Episode Eight in a series of 360° videos around the Ards Peninsula & North Down is from the historic village of Greyabbey on the east shores of Strangford Lough and the West side of the peninsula.
Filmed exclusively at Grey Abbey House, considered to be one of the finest Georgian country houses in Ireland, in this episode we meet a family member of the Ulster-Scots Montgomery family, William Montgomery, current owner of Grey Abbey House, who tells us of the historical significance of the Estate and his Scottish ancestors.
Produced with the support of Northern Ireland Screen's Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund, over this series the Virtual Visit team are going to be tracing the legacy of Ulster-Scots settlers in this area and giving you a guided "in-person" virtual tour of the local heritage, history, stories and culture, accompanied by a local tour guide.
