I love it when Johnny says he's writing music, because he was such a wonderful writer.

Let's never forget the lives and talent destroyed by drugs and alcohol. Fun for some. But those are the lucky ones. Rest in peace John.

Many say that the Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones is a great guitarist, but Jones's hero and his style of playing was totally Johhny Thunders.

😁 He's always been a character and one of the most entertaining interviewees. Seemed like a genuine good guy yet one can sense the tough Italian-New York attitide underneath the indifferent demeanor.

Seems very sweet but sad and alone. All the questions that bring up how he feels or looks make him very sad, and he's one of those people who just radiates sadness naturally. He died of leukemia, not heroin. He was a seminal personality in 70s New York, a very important time and place in rock history.

Richie B this. and so many people don't know about his illness, fuckin leukemia… there was no heroin at all in his system when he died and no lethal dose of any other drugs either. he was on methadone, really trying to get his shit together but people gotta say he was just a loser junkie who OD'd. i hate that, i love johnny.
@Brewzerr
@Brewzerr 5 жыл бұрын
Yep. It was the leukemia that got him in the end, not the dope. There are those who say he was dosed heavily with LSD by some street rat kids in New Orleans just before he died, but obviously no one has ever died from an acid overdose. Sad ending. He died alone.

@@lachrymarum_ Unfortunately he attracted loads of narcissistic voyeur types who lived vicariously thru him. They were afraid to do the things Johnny did, and encouraged him to act like he sometimes did. He was pretty self-aware, and it's a tribute to him that he was clean when he died, though many people may not believe he was.

Richie B John was murdered When his guard was down you could see the real John Genzale He was a good person very funny sweet charming but damaged He trusted the WRONG people all the time Yes I knew John.I know this video and what was going on in his life He was a complex person Its,not that simple But I tell you He was very much loved though he exhausted people We still cry 4 him.Its heartbreaking I cant listen to his music not for the past 8 or so years 4 some reason. Jerry Nolan too He just wanted respect and to be known as a musician But he screwed himself up over and over His emotions were over bearing He was broken I hope his father died a painful death And Julie

johnny's so sweet here. getting out of new york was probably the best thing he could've done. sad that it's also where the crowds showed him the most love tho. i feel such a connection to johnny, we're both anti-social, anxious addicts. he always keeps it real too.

K.B. Elliott - Except he was clean when he did this interview, or at least on methadone maintenance. Throughout the 80’s he would go on and off the dope for periods of time, and this was one of those times when he was off the dope.
