Proud driver from 2008-2019. Greyhound has treated me well, primarily... however THIS is the Greyhound I fell in love with. I miss the REAL Greyhound when it was painted red, white and blue...with the American flag on it and the fuel stamps on drivers side.

I'm reaching out to PBS to see if they have the complete video in their archives. Even if it's on VHS it can be converted to DVD. I wish there were more posted. I worked for Greyhound from 1979 - 1986. Another reason I liked this clip is because I own an Ex-Greyhound MCI/TMC 102-A3 built in July 1986. My fleet number is 1722. Small world. Thanks for posting👍🚌

Thank you very much for your comment. I did have the full one-hour program on VHS. Unfortunately, my VCR stopped working a few years ago, and I couldn't view the tape afterwards to try to record it on another format. I'm not sure I even have the original video tape anymore - I have to look for it. Let's hope your attempt to contact PBS about this program is successful!

Thank you for your comment! I may still have the full documentary, but the tapes are in such poor condition (nearly 25 years old), that it's nearly impossible to view them anymore. Plus, my old VCR may also not be so cooperative. I, too, miss these buses, a real American classic!

If you look around you could probably find a working cheap VHS player. The more info I can find on this documentary, the easier it may be to locate it. The credits at the end would show which station produced it etc. I'd definitely like to see all of it. Glad to hear back from you.

If I recall correctly from watching the entire program, I believe it was produced by the PBS station in Dallas, Texas. It could be a good starting point. Which would make sense, as that is the city where Greyhound has its headquarters.

Wow, those 102A3s could roll! Well a 6v92 is more powerful than I thought.

You know, some of them had 8V92TAs.

The coach pictured was a 1987 model so chances are it had the 6V92.

I've known 102A3s to top out at 90 if equipped with an 8v92TA and Eaton 5spd. The Allison HT740 auto just runs out of gear.

Could you try to upload the old tapes anyway? If its too bad to view then that's OK The earlier 102A3s stayed in service until 2004, the later ones got sold dduring the bankruptcy. You can still ride the enlarged and improved 102DL3 all the time, Greyhound still has hundreds of those.

Nice to see that 102A3, they were beasts! Do you have the full documentary? I believe that 2088 was built in 1988-1989 and were sold prematurely when Greyhound declared bankruptcy in 1990.
