It's so interesting to watch this with the power of hindsight. Grain tries to use berry bushes to stop villagers from going out, and I immediately know it's a bad idea because zombies can get grouped up and push eachother through the bushes. So even if the villager didn't walk in there by himself he would still have been at risk of dying. Afterwards he used the trapdoors to "swim", and then the half slab to crouch. But it's now fairly common knowledge to use a trapdoor in a 2 high doorway or behind the door since the villagers are a bit taller. It's also possible to place a door down so that it's open, because the game thinks the door is closed and the villager will first "open" the door to go through, but this will actually close it and he will get confused. This will also prevent zombies from breaking the door, and it'll prevent baby villagers from entering as well (which is still a problem with the half slab or either of the trapdoor entrances)
