I have long imagined building a minecraft fortress that took advantage of cobblestone generation- ie building a wall with pockets of lava and water, so you potentially repair it when trying to enter it, it would be prohibitably difficult to build in survival, you would need to use obsidian so people couldn't just try and speed through before getting lava on themselves.
