I have been using the 2kw unit with the limiter sensors for about 9 months now with my grid tie solar system with good results. My limit sensors or monitoring the 220volt 200amp input to my main power box. My grid power is only applying power to the compressor of my central air. (Three AC units one 2 ton & two 1 ton) and to charge my solar batteries below 45 volts. I am using two EG4 6500ex and one EG4 6000ex inverters and 105kw of lithium batteries in my system with 20kw of PV. I have notice a big difference in grid usage since using my Sun Series inverter with the limiters. I am about to connect another Sun inverter in parallel with the other to increase power handling capabilities to about 4000 watts. The limiters is just an inductive pickup to measure the current flow just like a clamp meter. The Sun inverters is feeding a higher voltage to your grid tie (breakers) when a load is present. (Current will flow from the higher voltage source). To check measure your grid voltage with a load and without the Sun inverter on them Turn your Sun inverter on them measure your grid voltage again it should be higher (3 to 5v) approximately. Also my power output from my Sun inverters to my main power box is thru a dual circuit breaker 20 amps.

Yeah, I was looking at the 1000W, but I don't have an easy path to my main panel and the garage. So, I thought of another way to use a grid tie and came up with the AC unit.

Been looking at these units for awhile.. Keep coming to the same conclusion. Likely not going to pay for itself. Fun to experiment with. I look forward to seeing your final setup.

That's the kicker. It will probably break down before the payoff period.

@@Roll2Videos I have read about lots of these only lasting a few years.. I still would like to play with one. For the educational value. More expensive for me as I don't have batteries kicking around. I would also have to buy some 48V batteries.... If I do that I would be tempted to go Solark some batteries and the Ultra Low Overt night Time of Use rate plan that Ontario Hydro offers. Charge batteries overnight and shave usage during the day to as close to zero as possible.

Have you ever had any issues with these units giving a arc fault? I have the 1000watt version hooked up to a 48v battery and recently it failed showing an arc failure.

I guess I really don’t see the benefit of this item, as it would be better just to get a real inverter! Definitely don’t like the fact that you have to set the setting quickly in order to have it not feed into the grid?
@Roll2Videos
@Roll2Videos 3 ай бұрын
A regular inverter is for running the load independently. This grid-tie inverter is to off set the load. I didn't like the couple of seconds pushing 2k into the grid It seems like the limiter selection should have been default.
@mikerussell5454
@mikerussell5454 3 ай бұрын
@@Roll2Videos Likely not pushing the full 2k back into the grid. It would be offset by everything else in your house. If your house at the time was less then 2k then the excess would go back to the grid. My house baselines around 2k draw, all the phantom draws, servers, small garage heater etc....

@@Roll2Videos Nice that you were able to capture it. I have the Emporia Installed. Great system. My understanding with Ontario hydro (Not sure who you are with) is that they bill you for energy that you backfeed as if it were a usage unless you are on a solar plan.
