For anyone wondering if this game will be finished. There is no other option but to finish it. If I stop posting updates it's because I have left this earth. The good thing is that the game doesn't have to be perfect to be released. I can always continue expanding the game and refining its mechanics.

Creating a dynamic world that won't get stale after a few hours is very hard. Ideally, the systems will work together to make stories develop organically but you need a very complex foundation to get that functional. Most sandbox games have some core hook/feature that allows the world to develop in unique and interesting ways; but designing that hook alone seems like a massive undertaking. Let alone all the other parts of your game that need to be functional and work together. Godspeed to this dude, he certainly has an ambitious project ahead of him.

You are correct. I am focusing on simple systems that are not time consuming to complete. Games like Game Breaker 2001 and NCAA 98 were, by necessity of hardware, brief and simple. I will use that design principle for things like recruiting, drafting, contracts, press conferences etc. I don't think I can possibly know what will be perfect, so the community feedback will be paramount to amend the systems of the game after v1 is available. As far as the story of the game world, it's all fluff as far as I can see. Even in real life. ESPN takes boring numbers and stats and presents them to you in such a way that you get some kind of meaning from it. It's spin. It's ultimately text generation that the game can then present to you in a variety of ways. When I was looking at the results of games in the engine console, I found myself entertained just by looking at the numbers and found that my mind did part of the work in pretending. So having audio and visual assets to enhance that desire to pretend will be my job.

The Gameplay Graphics are straight out of Sega College Football’s National Championship, which is one of my favorite 2D football games of ALL TIME.

A changing world that contains HS, college and pro football. It is visually set in the 90's, not a particular year. Why? I think it's cool. 98 is in the title of the game as a homage to some of my favorite football games from the late 90s.

I think there's a lot of great ideas in this game, but overall it's not going to appeal to the masses; especially without cool gameplay. A sim-cade football game like super mega baseball is the way to go. You have to find the happy medium between franchise mode depth and fun-factor. Madden 06 on PS2 Hit The Sweet spot with its franchise mode. An updated Madden 06 PS2 franchise mode with all pro football gameplay, customization, super mega baseball sim-cade style, and you'll have greatness. Until someone figures this out, we will be stuck with mediocrity. 😢

I appreciate your perspective. The difference between your focus and mine is in appeal. This isn't for the masses, if it were it would be a different game and I would have no interest in making it. This is targeting fans of RPGs, strategy and sports nostalgia. If someone wants to just play blitz, great, play blitz. I am making this as a part of the iron age of media. In a nut shell, it is a creative movement that seeks to stop complaining, stop asking for permission from the gate keepers and create. It's primarily a movement of novels and comics but can be anything. It doesn't need to appeal to everyone, it simply needs an audience.

One thing I will disagree with you is that we are not underserved for football games, partially thanks to you! The dark days were between the decline of Madden circa 2010, and the resurgence of PC gaming around 2017. Now we're spoiled for choice if anything. This is the biggest that PC football has been in over 20 years since the days of NFL Fever and Front Page Sports! I'm absolutely shameless I see a video like this and get mesmerized, I can't wait until they're out but then they come out and I never have time to play them :( Besides the one we won't mention, you've got Axis Football, Sunday Rivals, Pro Strategy, Front Office, Football Mogul, Wildcard Football, Draft Day Sports, Football Simulator, and of course Legend Bowl. And those are just the pro games.Your new college game, College Dynasty, Football Revamped, Maximum Football if it ever comes out. And that's not counting the PS3 emulator mods like Madden/NCAA Next, NFL2k2x... The cup runneth over so much that my biggest problem is that I buy these games and never have a chance to try them out. THAT is my dilemma! :) Some of those are text-sims but I"m gravitating toward those these days as Madden dies a slow death and my gaming reflexes which always sucked get worse with age. True, the games don't have licenses but that's a big wo-what these days with how easily games can be opened for modding. Official licensing is very overrated and even in a game like Madden, people are coming out with "better" custom rosters and mods all the time. I tell you I'm in the wrong line of work. If I knew football gaming would make this much of a comeback I would have learned to code games a long time ago. I enjoy what I do as a database dev for business apps, but if I could learn the thousands of hours I needed to make games like this I'd love to develop one or help to do so. If I won a huge crapton of money, I mean enough "FU" money to retire, I'd invest a significant lot in these dev studios.... and then on coding lessons for myself :D

There are a couple out there but there's not much to do in that game unfortunately. I do like it though. I'm putting my love of all those 2K, Ps1 and sega genesis football games into this project though.
