Townshend was so ahead of the curve when he wrote this. Great performance from Roger. A deep cut Who tour would be amazing.

I agree. Roger has stated he would like to mix it up more, but states that Pete can't remember the chords. Maybe true, but we all know Roger's and Pete's little jabs at each other. I think all of us Who fans would hope that Roger and Pete would realize by now that they are two halves of a greater whole. Pete's great song: "Tea and Theater" is what we all hope for. Only Roger could pull this song off to perfection. After everything they have been through together, we would hope there would be some brotherly love between them by now. I'm sure there is some, but then look at Ray and Dave Davies. Sometimes, they could literally kill each other. Anyway, a nod to another band I love. It's strange that Pete and Ray never really related to each other. They have a lot in common. Anyway, back to the answer of Pete forgetting chords of songs not played for many years. I certainly can relate, as there are many songs I played on my Strat. and now I go "how did I use to play this?" Well the answer, if what Roger states is true is Simon. Simon's voice and guitar playing is so similar to Pete's. Well, they share so many of the same genes. I remember seeing Simon at The Bayou in Georgetown, Wash. D.C. supporting "I Am The Answer" back when I was in dental school. I was amazed at how close he sounded like Pete. Simon is still the answer, if Pete can't remember. Simon could certainly play those songs after some practice. Time to stop, I'm going on like Pete. I tried reading Pete's autobiography and could never finish it.

@@kurtschwarz1844 How Many Friends isn't hard in terms of chords and I think Pete could play along to the original to get the lead fills right. Maybe there's something else bothering Pete?

@@garywood5882 I think those songs on "By Numbers" are just too personal to Pete and came at a dark period of his life.

The Who By Numbers is 'just an album,' and I love it for that. There was The Rock Opera, the Soundtrack, The Keith Dies album, the Kenny Joins album, The Who Breaks Up album, the Who Gets Back Together Album ... this time, Pete says, "Here's ten songs. Bye." He was such a gibbering wreck as of the last verse ... could not even muster up any ambitions ... I FUCKING LOVE IT.

Thank you Roger for Who you are. It's just plain fact, you are the greatest rock vocalist of all time. How you can still hit this song so perfectly is unheard of. I used to play this album a lot in high school , when it came out. This song still is so emotional for me. Thank you for adding the orchestra, especially Katie, she is brilliant. Your decision to make Zach Starkey drummer, saved The Who. He's the only drummer that deserves to have Keith's drum sticks. Without Zach, you know The Who just floundered. Roger what you have created, is a perfect more mature Who. It was meant to be. Keep The Who alive, it best to keep active. On the album: Who, Pete's songs are still solid. I wish he added some heavier leads though. It' s your most amazing vocals that make it a classic. Screw what Keith Richards said some years back. He is just a mean old fart. I love The Stones music, but I don't like Keith or Mick as people. How they treated Mick Taylor is criminal. He was so young and the best lead guitarist they ever had. They treated him horribly and ripped him off, since they are so greedy. They rip off their fans with outrageous ticket prices. I bought Keith's last solo album, it still sits in the shrink wrap. Thank God The Who is reborn. I love you all! Long live Rock!
