I recently loss my wife and you have talked about something nobody wants to talk, discussed or even aknowledge. Seems like for our society it is not proper to mention sex after the death of a love one. Thank you very much. I wish there were more people like you, open to face something taboo straight on.

Thank you so much for listening. I'm so sorry for the loss of your wife. It's aggravating that the grief space doesn't acknowledge the loss of sex more, especially because physical touch can be such a big part of our lives. I appreciate you.

Shelby, thank you so much for the content that you provide. It is just over two months since my wife was stolen from me. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in Dec 23, she had never smoked, and after a brief fight she passed away Feb. 24. We were married for 31 years her name is Daelee, I hate that those around me avoid using her name she was a real person and deserves that dignity! She was my one and only partner, she gave me purpose and direction. I have no idea what a future without her looks like. All of my desires, everything that we had planed for our future vanished! I go through the motions of each day, doing the things that I am supposed to but I just don't feel anything.

Oh my heart breaks for you. I can hear your pain and aching for her. People should be saying Daelee's name, but so many don't know what to say or do after a loss. I don't know where you are in your grief right now or what you're looking for, but if you're interested in joining a community of grieving people who are finding their way again, I'd love to have you in Life After Loss Academy. It's an online course + community full of dozens of grieving people who've lost spouses, parents, children, and more. Our next live call is tomorrow (Thursday) evening: www.shelbyforsythia.com/life-after-loss-academy I am sending so much love to you. 💚

@@shelbyforsythiagriefguide Thank you so much for the quick response and invitation to join the life-after-loss-academy. I was unable to attend this last Thursday, but I do intend on attending the next session. I don't know where I am either. I feel completely crushed! Daelee was the star of the show! She made me whole and complete. I can't stop crying I miss her so much that it physically hurts. I think I am just looking to find comfort somewhere.

I had an uncle that pass away 4 days ago. I've been struggling with the grief and heavily desire loads of sex. The stress is a bit much to handle.

This is really normal; sex is a way we cope, find connection, and release stress. The stress of loss IS stress. Sending ease your way as you grieve the death of your uncle.

Hi there, Dan. Thank you for sharing this with me. Know you are not alone; there are so, so many grieving people wondering what sex looks like now that loss has happened. I'll be answering your question on an upcoming episode of Dear Grief Guide, my free podcast where I answer anonymous questions from grieving people. It should air in a month or so. You can listen and subscribe here: www.shelbyforsythia.com/dear-grief-guide-podcast

For me it's about sexual healing. It's the only thing that helps me. People (friends) will often offer certain things but they will never agree to the one thing that does help. I absolutely crave this soothing comfort, but can rarely get it, but you barely even touched on this before running off on a tangent about supposedly feeling alive which was not relevant to me at all. None of your other points were relevant to me either. There is also a distinction between casual intimacy and and that of a long-term relationship. While friends-with-benefits would be ideal, the idea of a long-term relationship brings a feeling of doom. I.e. the relationship is doomed because in the end, nobody wants to share my bed with a ghost; and ya know what.. I shouldn't expect them to. As for spirituality, denying yourself sexual healing is the most nonspiritual thing you can do.
