I’m so happy to have found your channel. I play comfortably in RCM grade 6-8 level materials but have never taken an exam since my grade IV RCM in the early 80s. Ready to get serious with an RCM teacher again and your tutorials are just so very helpful!!!!

What!!! What could possibly have more value than solving a math problem just for its own sake?!?! haha! Immensely enjoy all your videos and just recently discovered Grieg's Arietta and intend to learn it - so glad to find you did this video on it!!!

Very nice video, thank you. What I feel is missing is some RH rotation to allow the pinky to sustain the melody without straining the hand so much - holding onto all three notes is not comfortable at all! I think Shirley Kirsten nails it, search Arietta on her channel.

Nice video! I actually was assigned this piece in my intermediate piano class. I am still perfecting it but fell in love playing it. Would you happen to know of another piece or pieces that would be at the same level and also shortist as Arietta? Been searching. I have to memorize my next piece and it has to be intermediate one. Thank you in advance.

Hi! Maybe you could try another piece of the same book "Lyric Pieces" by Grieg from the same Opus. Like Watchman's Song Op. 12 No. 3 it is a really beautiful piece and it has that calm and nostalgic atmosphere. (Sorry for my English)

Cool. I am learning the ABRSM pieces and I ignored this one because I was confused by the slurs. I have learned the reef for list B so don't need to learn this but I might now that I have this video to follow.. If I ever do the actual exam I will probably do Bagattelle in C The reef and a Kwela for Caitlin but always good to have extra and maybe it ends up being easier.

nice. I remember playing this when i was 8. Its a nice piece. I was wondering if you could cover Debussy's Ballad Slave as your next piece analysis. Its quite a pretty piece but a-lot of people seem to be unaware of the piece. Thank you.

samuel rappaport I definitely agree, Debussy’s ballade is a beautiful piece that is unfortunately very under appreciated.

Grade 5 or Grade 6?! I've got this for Grade 4 on List B ABRSM. Not easy at all...
@rupe825 жыл бұрын
Grade 4 ABRSM is equivalent of about a grade 5-6 RCM.
@flyingpenandpaper61194 жыл бұрын
And Arietta is very difficult for Grade 4, I would say. The requirement for good voicing, soft dynamics and evenness make this piece tougher than the notes alone would suggest.
