This was my best friends FAVORITE SONG. He’s been dead for 2 years. Every time I hear this song, I cry..tears of joy, happiness and brokenness…he died alone and died a thief, failed husband, failed dad, a liar…..but the few of us that got to know him, TRULY knew his soul, TRULY knew who he was meant to be. I cannot listen to this or What It Dew enough! I go all teenage girl with that shit on repeat! I love how he seemlessly transitions from flowing to singing and he can do both so well! I love that kind of gravelly, mild smoker-ish edge to his voice. Not all rappers can sing as well as they flow...look at Slug. I love that man, he is thee most underrated, overlooked artist out there (imho), but melodically singing is not where his immense talent lies. I've been playing out Drown from Mi Vida Local lately too and it sounds so strange with him singing, not bad, just....odd. That's a great song too! Grieves would take the title though if it were a singing battle. Sorry Slug, but its all good, you know no one could ever do you like you do!
