Metal detecting has always been my passion, a source of joy and adventure. But after the heartbreaking loss of my father, I’ve found myself struggling to reconnect with the hobby I once loved.

I lost my mojo for detecting when I lost Dad after 31 years detecting with him, then I heard him in my head telling me I won't find anything sat indoors being miserable so get out there, so back at it in the fields chatting away to him as I go & when a good find comes up I hold it to the sky for him to see.

Same for me when I lost my mum. The next day I went out detecting. When I got to the field I just sat in the car bawling my eyes out for an hour. Then I went out for a couple of hours and it just pissed it down with rain! All I found was bits of lead and aluminium cans. Maybe next time I go out I will find something nice

What would dad have said Bro? He would have said get out there and graft, if he taught us anything he taught us the value of the kalvinist work ethic. I miss him too but just like the show life must go on. We will give him a proper send off in the spring but till then we both have films and videos to make. 😊
