@@degriff I just bought my first real rolex, and after having a $500 replica, there is no way I would ever think a fake is real. There’s just something about a real rolex, shaking it and you don’t hear the rotor at all, and the Lume, it’s insane.

A usual sure way to tell an authentic Rolex from a fake one are the feel, touch and the weight of the watch in your hand. Fake ones will almost always are lighter, not polished properly and not smooth to your touch and to your eyes. The clasp will not be smooth and will be a little rough to close and open, it may not even align properly, you should never try to bend or force closing the clasp. Take a 10x Lupe with you and examine the fonts on the dial face. Fonts on fake Rolex watches will never be uniform, smooth and perfect like a real Rolex, but will have very small indentations (seen only with a 10x Lupe) sort of like extremely tiny bubbles on the fonts' paint. The 2 1/2 date enlarging cyclopes is also a good indicator, the magnification should cover almost the whole window and the date number should almost be covered completely by the cyclopes window, anything smaller indicates that it is fake, means the enlargement is less than 2 1/2. A normal buyer will not be able to open the bottom cover of a Rolex, special instruments are needed, so examining the inside movement is very impractical. All of my above pointers will almost guarantee you to be able to tell if the Rolex you are examining in your hand is authentic or fake. Good luck.

The VSF fake submariner is shockingly good. Very very scary because they seem to have fixed most of these problems. The only giveaway is an expert looking at the movement.

Great video! Two things I would mention is that the milgauss model with the green tinted GV crystals don’t have a laser etched crown at 6. Also, depending on the movement of the model, turning the crown forward can move the hands forwards or backwards, the 3235 movement is an example of one that moves opposite. There are some handy guides out there that tell you which calibers advance forward or backwards. Otherwise, some great info.

I suspect that many and perhaps nearly all buyers of super clone fake Rolexes know exactly what they are doing. So then we go back to the basics of why people buy a Rolex. Some of course buy because of ego and the 'look at me' syndrome. Others because they think it is a great way to make money. But many are like me, normal working guy who has enough cash to splash on an Explorer or Submariner but when he tries to buy one he finds that he cannot join the club. The AD smirks at him and he is dismissed from the store and never gets his hands on a genuine Rolex. So recently I bought a super clone Rolex Submariner green bezel Starbucks version. It is as near as damn it identical to the real thing, and believe me I have checked against hundreds of pictures and vids of the real thing and cannot see with my little eye any difference. It feels like a Rolex too. I mean that feeling of quality and balance and style on the wrist. It holds very good time and looks the part. Oh and it was available within two weeks and cost me just $600. So having had it for a month or two I am left thinking if I had a real one would it be any better and would I feel better about it and myself? No and no...
