You need to get a decibel meter. It's not worth hearing a constant ringing or losing your hearing for the rest of your life for a yt channel. I made the mistake of not using ear pro or proper ear pro for two combat deployments, and 8 years working with firearms, breaching charges, and flashbangs. You can't get your hearing back, nor sit in a room and enjoy silence w/o a constant ringing for the rest of your life.

Great video as usual. I was about to order a GA suppressor last year, I just didn't go for it. This one is very impressive, especially for the size. I think their cam-lok adapters for pistols with suppressors is revolutionary stuff which is kind of hard to come by in the gun world this day and time, with so much stuff out there. The cam-lok is awesome!

Glad to see you reviewing some Griffin stuff, the two cans that I have in hand are both griffin, the checkmate QD and the Optimus (Gen 1) and I don’t have any complaints. I’m also a fan of the taperlok system, simple and secure. I now have 8 cans pending approval as I purchased the Explorr .30 cal UM variant yesterday.

I don't think there's a real comparison there. The OSS will 100% have less backpressure. It's negative on the Flow in some cases. However, it is louder at the muzzle and has worse flash under nods.

I just picked up my Griffin EXPLORR, which has been nice. It does kind of irritate me that the ATF decided to fuck me on the wait, and this new gen came out during the wait (Apr2020-Feb2022). It has been excellent on my 11.5” 5.56 and I’m hoping to switch out their SPR can with this on my 14.5”.

Late to the party here, but for the unsuppressed 308 group, was it the first group shot with that muzzle device? I assume it is as you likely swapped your normal MD on that gun for the taper mount from griffin to do the review. I had issues with grouping after putting on one of their taper mount brakes. Ended up switching to another of their taper mount flash hiders and it restored my groups. Using the can, like you, also improved the group.

I’ve got an explorr .224 in NFA jail right now. Only thing I’m concerned about is suppressor glow with nods since it’s such a lightweight suppressor. I might try a sleeve over it if it glows too soon/much.

Great review as always. I’m a newb to suppressors, so your channel is typically a go to place for me to come. I am about to pick up a dedicated 556 can and was told to look at the EXPLORR 224. I came across this review so had to watch it and now I’m wondering if the 30cal is the way to go. I know you review so much, but have you tried the 224 by chance? Honestly with aks it’s all variants The problem with them is the threads are on the front site not the barrel itself so that’s why they can be wonky and misaligned I’ve seen high end aks with dead air wolverines still have baffle strikes Never heard of any problem with any gun that’s threaded normally like on the barrel

I have the gen 1 Optimus still using the old baffles. Think I might upgrade to the new ones soon. Question for you, how do you get lead off stainless baffles?

I sent my gen 1 Optimus in and got the new Eco baffle system installed. Because I shoot and sell suppressors I've already previously heavily compared the original Optimus to other cans in 5.56, 7.62 NATO and 300 Black. There is a definate, pretty big and easily hearable difference with the new system. Previously the original Optimus was a little bit louder than my dedicated Recce5, not the new version with Eco. Now the full length Optimus with the Eco system is definately quieter, and the Recce5 is a superlative 5.56 can. Blackout is still Blackout, about the easiest centerfire rifle caliber to suppress and the new unit works great. I don't have a dedicated Griffin 7.62 NATO can do compare the new Optimus too but it does as at least as good a job as my old AAC SR-7 dedicated 7.62 suppressor. The opinions of sound are from people who stand beside me on either side about six yards away and one who stands behind me.

No, recce has the mount machined into the body itself That being said you don't miss much with the dual lok

@@mexicangator recce 5 is 100% fine Dual lok is for people uncustomed to a taper only mount In fact griffin recommends the recce series as their flagship duty model still due to the tube design vs tubeless on DL5/HRT You can always upgrade to DL5 later but I think you'll be very happy with the recce

Baffle erosion has more to do with blast baffle proximity to the muzzle and the type of muzzle device used. What cans/setups are exhibiting erosion and do they still suppress well?

@@nfareview Nomad, turbo t2, Rex mg7. They all still suppress well but exhibit far more erosion than even a sandman k I use on a select fire 10.5”. The turbo surprised me the most because the inconel blast baffle doesn’t seem to have made much difference.

Well for 1 at 18:30 he recommends the cheaper mounting system and with most reputable companies there's a simple answer... this suppressors awesome he just presents super detailed video information. Nice review, glad Griffin is reaching out to get more independent reviews of their cans, they are really nice, but not as well known as some other companies. One big thing is the length of the muzzle devices that can be used, especially with the modular mount. The fixed taper version allows 2.5" taper mounts, the modular only about 2" with standard taper mount adapter(the dual lock is longer), so it requires a longer adapter to use some like Griffin's excellent linear comp mount, where the fixed taper mount model can use it as-is. Love my gen1 Explorr, simple 30cal can I've enjoyed for a couple years now, plan to pick up the gen 2 Explorr or Bushwacker 36. Run taper mounts on all my hosts, and really like that system, a review of the various mounts would be cool too.
