Man, you had to go bringing up that remote hi-hat, didn't you? One day... Looks like another fine purchase you've made. Like you, I don't have any real desire to play speed metal or anything that really warrants having my double pedal, but it's fun to break it out sometimes and give it a go. Mostly, it just sits around waiting for the time when I might need a spare. Yours looks quite nice. Enjoy! P.S. A few more bucks spent on a drop clutch for your hats might be a good buy.

That double pedal will keep your legs young. I have the same single pedal and matching stand set and they are working just fine. ( There use to be a saying...( ours does what their's does for a lot less)( Shout out to GRIFFIN) What a treat to possibly include Michelle in your videos. 🎤 micing would be a big step forward Todd! You have the audience. Would love to hear those 2 rides side by side. Two fine cymbal supplier's for sure. Your creativity and enthusiasm to move forward is electric. Makes one want to move. Cover choice is a little fast for me but the progress is perfect to participate in. 💪

Just found your channel. I played from 80 til 05. Used a single kick by choice a ludwig speedking mostly. Hurricane katrina i lost the kit dude to the trailer i owned being blown into about 5 others and all fhe stuff blew in to the road and before i was able to return they bulldozed it. I was sick. I mentioned this a bit while making guitar videos. Lol. I hated talking about it. But now xmas , my daughter surpsised me with a little DDrum D2r. All stock. Now, its not my BLX Pearl kit but it is a kit so i can knock off the rust. The hindering factor so far is the kick pedal is completley Dead. I need a new one. So thats on my gear list. Then cymbals. I will eventually get heads and mics one day but in no hurry. Its funny I was a drummer that stopped for 16 years and took up guitar and keys. So now i will slowly add drums. Looking to swap or sell off gear to fund the drum gear. Hahahahaha. Cool man!!! I am looking for some decent iron cobra pedals. Just one actually. Even the 200 series. I need a very responsive pedal. See you soon ...

Love the new intro jingle. Those pedals look like great construction for the price! Also love the the XS additions, probably one of the best cymbals out there dollar for dollar. You ever heard of a drop clutch? May want to look into one now that you’re living the double bass life! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
@CheapDrumsGuy Жыл бұрын
Yeah, those cymbals are my favorite now. I really like them. I thought about those clutches but with the way I intend to use the pedals, I don't think I'll need one. They're just intended to help with fills although I do practice trying to keep a steady minute long tempo going. trying to change the patterns also like the "Hot for teacher" one.

Greetings from the beautiful Pacific Northwest, CDG. I’m sitting here thinking back to when I first discovered your videos. At that time, if my mind serves me correctly, you only had 2 electric sets that you were messing with. You’ve come a long way, Baby!!! I’m excited to hear how you progress with this latest addition to your set, and I want to hear those new cymbals too. Thank you for posting all of your steps along this very exciting drum path you have chosen. See you later after you get those new cymbals cleaned up. Take care, my good friend.

Funny you mention those cymbals. I’m downstairs now taking them off to clean them up. Also, working on my lighting down here and trying to make it look less halfassed and more professional. Yeah, it seems like such a long time ago but it hasn’t been. I really want to go back and redo some of them older ones. A lot are pretty bad even for my standards!
@gregwonhoff7161 Жыл бұрын
@@CheapDrumsGuy No need to go back and redo. It’s all part of the growing process, and you, my busy friend, have grown immensely in such a short amount of time. I am so glad I found your channel.

@@gregwonhoff7161Agree Greg! Todd not only could give lessons, he is a well versed percussion consultant as far as I see It! Stories remind me of Paul Harvey...kind of.

@gregwonhoff7161 I don't know if Todd's old enough to remember Paul. Back in Hartford, it was Bob Steele talk show host. Dam, I'm dating myself. I'm not sure if the stories or creativity with all the kits is what captivated me. I appreciate the straight-up no sugar coating that Todd's channel delivers.

WE have a lot in common I believe, my friend! Just from reading your description and listening to you for 10 minutes I know we have a lot in common. I just started playing a year ago. I will be 59 in 2 weeks. I taught myself and learned on her so much in a year. I started flipping drums from the first pieces I got. And I tinker like crazy. Think outside the box. And BTW I play open handed. I didn't even know that's what I was doing lol. I will look at a bunch of your videos and get to know you a bit more. Keep up doing what you're doing! Behind the kit and behind the camera. I like how real you are
@CheapDrumsGuy Жыл бұрын
Thanks Spagz! You and I are the majority my friend, not the minority. I absolutely love the drums. Whether or not I will ever be any good is another question but I'm going to have a blast trying. Playing is only one part. Like you, I gotta tinker with stuff...... break it until its fixed! Looking forward to talking to you on the way. I have a lot of really good subscribers on here (three British drum coaches also!) and I'm glad you've joined in. Peace brother!
@Spagz Жыл бұрын
@@CheapDrumsGuy I have about 4,500 subscribers but most of them just subscribed for the music videos I post. Not my drumming lol. But the best subs I have though, I know pretty well. We have a little KZbin drummer community, supporting each other on here and about drums. I even made a friend with someone who turned out to live only 30 minutes from me. I went to a party at his house 2 weeks ago. Like you, I LOVE the drums. Wish I found them 50 years ago. I will keep playing until I can't. Looking forward to you being a part of our conversations, and us in yours. I bring my youngest daughter to college tomorrow morning so I will be busy the next few days, but I will try and go through more of your stuff at the motel tomorrow night.

I remember the day i got my double pedal. Musta been feb of 2003. I was 15. It was delivered to the both neighbor who was always such a twat,yelling at me and my brother and the oher kids about being too loud or mean to her kids. I was super suprised she yelled to me one day to say hey something came here with your name on it.and she was super nice that one n only time. Playing the pedal felt so weird but with in a couple hours it was second nature and been going at it ever since. I sadly dont have one at the moment, but i put 20 years in and the last one i had was kinda shitty so i sold it. Its fun to use even if your aim isnt to be a master
@synthartist69 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the review. One concern I see for me is that the two beaters are too far apart. I would be using it for a Roland VAD507 electric bass drum. It has a small area on the head that actually triggers. Not sure if your right beater will move in to the left more than what I am seeing in the video?
@CheapDrumsGuy Жыл бұрын
I went downstairs and checked the pedal. There’s about 1 inch of space between the 2 beater heads. Looking on the shaft, there is the bottom adjustment screw and don’t quote me but it looks like if you do take out the bottom lug screw you may be able to slide it closer. I am not entirely sure about it. Tomorrow I will take a better look and try to see if I can move it.

"i dont wanna do the alex van halen double stuff..patooey" *Puts on pound cake* 🤣 Strap in todd cuz just through having the pedal, your gunna use it. Your gunna get better,stronger,faster and more comfortable. Its innevitable that as you continue to play,youll be trying to push different techniques. i think you should try playing overkill by motorhead. Once you get there (its like running) you realise just how frikken cool a double setup is. Overkill is the defacto fun to play, fun to master double lick. Its not that hard. Maybe 3 hours of time, and id bet youd have it down. Give it a try 😉 its gunna be worth it
@CheapDrumsGuy Жыл бұрын
I wondered if anyone would catch that VanHalen thing! I love this thing, it's really fun but due to the type of music I like to play, I'm afraid it will be regulated to mostly trickier single pedal stuff....... I mean, I don't wanna give myself a heart attack!

One might think..... but no. I have no desire to try and attempt anything like that (full song) but, I do have to be able to keep up a pattern like that for at least a minute I'd say in order to be able to achieve extra fills and endings with some consistency

I haven't had any issues yet and hopefully won't. Everything wears out eventually though. Nice thing about it is that if one of the pedals develops an issue, I've still got the other pedal. I don't use it as a double very much.
