Griffith Observatory Elevator in Los Angeles

(June 2016) Back when I visited LA for a weekend, I spent 1 day with Alpaljl, and one day on my own. This was where I went on my solo day!
The observatory itself was well done- you can spend 1-2 hours going through the exhibits. The walk through Griffith park (to get to the observatory,) while challenging, is quite scenic as well!

The elevator at UIUC's Advanced Computational building also had a windowed ceiling in the shaft (as it once housed the astronomy department). The shaft window was taken out due to leaking, but that's why the cab has a windowed ceiling. I think you saw that one.

How did you get inside the building? When I was here this summer, I did not even realize that there was a way to get inside to access this elevator.

Just walk in, it's free to the public. Maybe you went on a day it was closed?

you probably have to pay to get into the planetarium / ect on the lower two levels.. so the elevator is locked on the top so people can't use it to get in for free
