Those views, absolutely amazing! It is nice you had shade on the way despite the big fire ravaging the area. Great tips on altitude sickness, not something to joke with. It was so windy at the top, and the views were stunning! Kudos for doing this strenuous hike Eric, no doubt all your recent hiking made a difference though. Ah, note to self - bring a sweater next time. Great editing and video, the right length for this one-of-a-kind hike. You are such an awesome ambassador of your city and State! (Great shirt by the way ;D) and a great videographer!

I'm hoping to do it sometime next month if I can squeeze in the time! I'm glad this video was helpful for you, and congratulations on conquering another peak!

Loved it Eric and a great hike, with a real canny pull up to the summit mind. Great to see the trail open again but like you say, sad to see the devastation the fire caused. Great views from Griffith but again so so to see some much woodland lost. You did a good job there buddy, cheers Alan
@adventuringoutdoorswitheric4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Alan! Yeah this was really one hell of an uphill climb to reach the summit of Griffith Peak. I see you climb mountains all the time so you understand the feeling of accomplishment after you finish the entire hike. The fire devastation is sad to see but thankfully the forest is slowly rebuilding itself. Alan I really like you stopping by my friend.

The effects of a fire can indeed be bad. That said, it does allow for some new growth to occur which can be VERY important. So despite the fact that it looks bad, it can in fact help the area. There will be some new growth happening with some plants that could never survive in a well established forest area. It all takes time and is all a bug circle. Wow, look at those views! One of my favorite videos from you.

So, to be honest with you, I'm more of a day hiker than a camper, so I wouldn't exactly know what you would need to camp out on Mt Charleston. But I do know that there is a campsite, probably a mile below the summit of Griffith Peak. If you do end up camping out, you might as well hike to the top of Mt Charleston as well. Thank you so much for watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ3TammXeb9-g6s

That was an incredible hike up Eric, and good advice to turn back if you are feeling unwell at altitude. @@adventuringoutdoorswitheric thanks. My mother is retiring and thinking of relocating to Nevada. Seems like a good option only 30-40 minutes from civilization it seems. Do you know if he have any issues with errands getting groceries, receiving mail, etc…?
@adventuringoutdoorswitheric3 жыл бұрын
Getting groceries he had to get outside of the Mount Charleston area. I would say the closest grocery store from the Mt Charleston would be about 30 minute drive. If you work in Las Vegas it's good to probably stop in get groceries on the way back home. I'm not sure about the mail but I think that probably wouldn't be an issue.
