Rainworld uses a technique where the gravity that's affecting the body gets reduced for every limb holding onto a wall. I think this would be an awesome technique for this, as your spider would struggle to hold themselves up with just 1 leg

What I think would be AMAZING would be to have ur game turn into a puzzle adventure game. To simplify my idea, you could have spider cat navigating a room filled with obstacles and enemies. Then the player would need to collect items (say a key) to complete the puzzle. Once said puzzle is complete, a door would open and lead to the next level. I first discovered you from papercraft on scratch and I love your content!

Nice! For some reason, I had this idea where if the spider goes too far away from a platform and all the legs detach from the platform, if they're no other platforms for the spider to grab onto, they would just fall to the ground. I even applied the physics in the project and all that's left is collisions and smooth leg movement. This makes me excited for the 2nd devlog!

@Salt_Enjoyer Жыл бұрын
You could make a platformer-type (I mean that it can climb walls, but can't jump, and also it should struggle to hold up with just one leg). The spider can't see anything in the dark. However, it can see where its own limbs are to detect its enviroment. There is moving light in some places. While the light is in a location, the spider can see it, but must not go into it. For difficulty, you could probably add something like moving enemies, that the spider also can't see in the dark and has to avoid (these enemies actually see in the dark and follow the spider once they notice it). If you want to get rid of an enemy following you, you have to go through a cobweb or get out of its reach. Only your character can go through cobwebs. I might edit this comment to add more stuff.

Edit, i found out the problem but i cant find any solution, it appears the clones that are being made are not (?) following the search definition or me setting forever go to player, and are instead just staying in the initial place where it was cloned, seemingly not drawing any legs. Please help griffpatch

I got an idea for the game! Basically, it will be a sort of scrolling game where you need to climb around, there will be 3 types of dangerous obstacles : The leg killable : It can destroys the player if the legs touch it, however the body is safe. Body Killable : Same thing as the leg killable but now the body isn't safe but the legs can still touch it. The killable : It destroys anything it touches. The goal is to maybe catch keys (which will put in use the leg killable and the body killable to like be strategic how to get a dangerously placed key) and the keys will help to open a door to go in next level. Also try to add bosses, you make amazing ones! (Sorry for bad grammar, english is not my primary language. Also keep up the good work griffpatch!)

So I don’t know how ambitious you want to go with this project but seeing the game art example kind of reminded me of Ori (somehow even though the styles don’t look that much alike) and I thought the escape sequences where you dodge some giant creature are always really fun so that kind of gameplay with the artstyle of the shown example would be quite a big deal but an insanely nice project
@captainsprinkles6557 Жыл бұрын
I think a cool idea is you're in a house(or anywhere really), and the main goal of the game is to make a web, hunt prey down, take them back to your web, or set up traps. Could be a survival game with interesting mechanics, or a horror game where *you're* the terrifying spider monster.

Idea: Spider Maze Plot: Scratch Cat has found something wierd, but upon touching it, he becomes a spider! Your job is to navigate Scratch Spider through a series of scrolling mazes, dodging enemies trying to stall your progress, until you reach the end, and Scratch Cat is back to their (I am not assuming genders, or I will get hunted down) normal self! Other: - Maybe a selection of music and a menu that allows people to listen to that music - A speedrun timer toggle feature. Some people don't want to speedrun the game and just want to enjoy it for what it is. - A Story mode (hence the plot) and a seperate level select feature. Maybe the stuff labelled under other is a little too much to ask? Maybe they are not a challenge?

This looks great! In real life, I think spiders can make sticky or non-sticky strings of webs. what about a sort of puzzle game where you have to shoot webs to walk on and/or go through to get to the flies or avoid the wasps? (where you can only walk on the non sticky webs, but you can build more webs on either types, and you catch flies only on the sticky ones.) I am also very exited by the idea of a collab with CrystalKeeper7, and am thinking of a vibe akin to Rainworld. Perhaps there would be a large scrolling map that you have to get around that is filled with many creatures and bugs, (some friendly, some enemies and some food) but you can't see very far. Instead, you must rely on the subtle movements of the webs made my other creatures (detectable by the web's coloring). (eg. if there is an enemy to the right, then the webs to the right of your spider will quiver red, but if it's food, they'll quiver blue.) I have so many ideas, I might make my own game! XD
@Tedification Жыл бұрын
also, Rainworld has a really cool AI ecosystem that I would LOVE to know how to do!

This actually helped me make an inverse kinematics knee for a walking pen animation
