Okay Jill, these were really good (even though I didn't fire up the grill...just browned them good in my cast iron skillet. I had a little left over that I chopped up and used in a spicy stir fry (minus the fry of course). Tasted yummy! Thanks for another great recipe! Ok, you'll get a chuckle out of this. I just had a half sandwich of just a slice of believable bacon and sourkraut sauce from your righteous rebuen...wasn't in the mood for cooking anything and had a little sauce left over...and it was so good! (Yes, even without the yummy veggies) I'm hooked on the righteous Reuben...think I've had it 3 times this week (confessions).

Valerie Scrafford Oh now that's interesting, a bacon and sauerkraut sandwich. I'd eat that with you in a heartbeat! Crunchy Scott I have to admit, he surprised me when he said that. He grows more proud of being plant-based as he grows older. (Parental bonus I was not expecting!) I took the last of that feta dip and used it on a bed of Romaine lettuce and shredded carrot yesterday. That was REALLY good.

@JillMcKeever9 жыл бұрын
+Taai02 Go straight to the makers site: ButlerFoods.com I bought the 12-pound box last time. It took us almost a year to go through it. You MUST MUST keep them stored in the freezer in the thick plastic bag they arrive in. Trust me. Soy curls are naturally oily and the oils can turn rancid over time if not kept frozen. Make sure you have room in your freezer before you order.

An easy way to get the seal is to carefully lower the ziploc bag into a bowl with water. The water pushes the air up and out especially if you almost seal the bag first
@vanessaanderson74639 жыл бұрын
Oh! Also bought the Plant Pure Nation cookbook also, I love it! There is a blue "cheese" recipe there, have you tried? I think the "feta" flavors would be easier to duplicate myself that you made. I'll try and let you know :)
@JillMcKeever9 жыл бұрын
Vanessa Anderson I knew about that blue cheese dressing, but someone told me it missed the mark, so I didn't want to risk it. The feta dressing I shared was a known success story back in the day, of course, I had to seriously veganize it. My old feta dressing called for feta, sour cream and mayo. This morning, I woke up thinking about ways to smoke and grill soy curls. One idea: Have you ever seen those fish grilling baskets? I imagined using one filled with soy curls. I'm thinking it would help grill the curls a little higher above the heat source and prevent charring the curls. Then I started daydreaming how I could turn my chiminea (sp?) into a smoker. It's 8:30 am as I write you. This may turn out to be an interesting grill exploration day with curls.
@vanessaanderson74639 жыл бұрын
Simple Daily Recipes I grilled them yesterday, first time. I liked the char marks on them, super yummy. I used the same veggie grill thing you have. I watched them the whole time and didn't leave. I think I could've had them gone a little longer but still super yummy. I didn't make the feta or blue cheese recipe, ran out of steam. I did make a ranch type with tofu mayo and fresh herbs, that was really good. I would love to eat these smoked oh my yes. Thanks for the great grilling idea!

Do you have a dehydrator Jill? I ask because I make "tortillas" made of ground up flax seeds mixed with pureed veggies (from the high speed blender) and put them in the dehydrator and they come out amazing and are perfect for wraps and stuff--no oil, no gluten, and extra yum factor. I do one sundried tomato one and one spinach/garlic one. The tomato one is perfect for beans or Mexican recipes. You can even use leftover smoothie mixed with ground flax seeds. If you don't have a dehydrator, you could make them in the oven on super low with the door open. So nice to have tortillas when you want them with no oil, no wheat, no corn (you never know what someone is going to NOT eat anymore. LOL.) Love you!
@kristent2259 жыл бұрын
The Butterfly Effect- Plant-based Weight Loss That recipe sounds great. Did you come up with it or did you find it somewhere? I'm tired of trying to find gluten free wraps and paying almost $4 when I do find them! Thanks for your post :)
@thebutterflyeffect-plant-b30679 жыл бұрын
Kristen T I got the idea from Penni Shelton from Rawfoodrehab.com. You can experiment yourself but I like 2 roma tomatoes, 1 red pepper (seeds and stem removed), 1 garlic clove, 1 oz sundried tomatoes (the kind with no oil), and 1/2 c. ground flax seeds. Make little tortilla sized circles on a teflex sheet (or silpat if it's going in the oven) and dehydrate till not quite fully dry, still moist and pliable.
@kristent2259 жыл бұрын
The Butterfly Effect- Plant-based Weight Loss Do you just spread the mixture out with a spatula or do you roll out the dough? How about the temperature of the oven and approximately how long in there? sorry but you're the first person I've found that makes their own wraps!! That just amazes me

Jill, I have to tell you...I have been waiting to make your tofu mayo, and this morning got the ingredients together finally. I never have the right stuff, but I just made my first batch just this minute and I LOVE it! Is that from Plant Pure Nation? This is the first tofu mayo recipe I have ever liked AT ALL. After watching this video I had to heat up some BBS curls, put them on a slice of ww bread, and tried, for the first time, this mayo on it...fantastic! It is so good, that I am going to be reluctant to start messing around with feta, etc until I eat this all UP. I don't have the book yet, but up until now, the only book I have thought tasted wonderful was anything Isa Chandra Moskowitz wrote, and then, you have to de-oil everything. I am getting excited!
@JillMcKeever9 жыл бұрын
1linnell I'm so glad you like the tofu mayo. The one I like most is from the same Campbell family but different book. Do you know The China Study Cookbook by Leanne Campbell? That's where I got the tofu mayo recipe. I hesitate in recommending you buy that one. It's a good book, but honestly, I don't think to reach for it all that often. I've made several recipes from the book and had family approval of them, but I just don't think to reach for it. Maybe it's the photography or the fact that there's a movie that goes with reading the book, PlantPure Nation is more exciting to me right now. The recipes seem to fit what we like eating these days, too. That's a big motivator when reaching for inspiration. There is a tofu mayo recipe in PlantPure Nation that's similar; I haven't tried it. I have the other one memorized so I keep making it. Speaking of Isa, I have her Isa Does It and find it to be a fun read and inspiring for new flavors to try. I haven't actually made anything from the book yet. The recipes that intrigue me are better suited for cooler weather. So, I'll wait.

I am thinking low heat? for 2hrs? Oh! and I was out of liquid smoke so I am using smoked salt that I got at our organic store called the Wedge in MPLS MN. I will let you know how that works.

+karen richardson WOOT WOOT! Go with the Norm or More heat setting. I'm don't know how thick your stack will be but I'm worried it may not heat all the way if slow cooked on low heat in that short of time.

1linnell I forget about spring rolls and I don't know why. I love them stuffed with baby spinach, shredded carrot, and baked tofu with a little wasabi sauce on the side. Thank you for noticing the amount work that went into this video. The prep, grilling and filming was the easy part. All the editing and writing out all the recipes was not near as much fun. Please don't expect that from me on a regular basis. It's too much crazy for one person.

Kari Eats Plants OH thank you for noticing. I have my head down, feverishly working on my next downloadable cookbook. I've given myself until the end of the month to get it done. The cookbook covers all the Instant Pot meals I've cooked here on my channel plus a few extra. I made a delicious dinner last night and thank goodness I turned on the camera! It had potatoes, carrots and spinach in a creamy curry sauce. Hubby said it was dangerous because he didn't want to stop eating it eventhough he was full. I'll try to take a cookbook break today and edit the dinner video. Maybe I can get it posted by tonight. Maybe. :D
