Since leg quarters are about the cheapest meat that you can buy now. I wanted do a short video on how I grill leg quarters. I started my grill and decided to shoot this video at the last minute. I placed a time estimate in the top right hand corner so that you can see almost exactly what and when I turn the chicken. If you have any questions or comments please feel free. I would love to hear from ya'll. Also you can find my grill spray recipe at • Barbecue Vinegar Grill...

Ok I ate it. It was good but probably not as good as yours. Question- How do you grill direct for 70 minutes without burning it? Mine was plenty blackened after like 5 minutes direct, so I moved it over to the cool side to finish. And total cook time was only 30 minutes! How do you keep your heat down so low (I assume it’s fairly low heat) even though your vents are open? I want to make chicken like yours!

Thank you so much for this video. I always tried to grilled chicken quarter in gas grill and it's always kind of hard. I was wondering if charcoal grill is best to grill quarters. I really like the way your chicken looks when done. Do you think I should go with charcoal? Gas grill always best into flame when I put the quarters due to the chicken juice leaking down.
@hunterlong1820
@hunterlong1820 8 жыл бұрын
I love doing quarters over charcoal. I have a barrel style grill and I build my car all the way on one side and put the chicken skin side down over the coals for 2 or 3 minutes then I move it to the cooler side of the grill. I do one side for 30 then flip and cook for 20 minutes flip once more and 30 more minutes. Then just put the chicken down over the coals on the side you didn't earlier for a minute or two. Comes out perfect every time!

Your advice is well taken. I purchased a Weber charcoal grill like yours now at what is the end of the season here and have effectively either turned a steak into dried jerky akin to shoe leather or, boneless chicken breast into tasteless dry rice cake. I can tell it will take some getting used to working the coals. But I also think that your advice here is that bone-in, skin and some moisture helps a bit. So, off I will go to source some affordable legs and corn, start my grill early today, and make the family a good meal based on your advice. I will have some fun and it will be a great setup to watching my Red Sox pound the Yankees again! Thanks bro. Have a good day.

Good looking chicken. That looked close to how my dad use to do it on charcoal. I've been trying to replicate it. was best bbq chicken ever. No rub like everybody does now, just salt & pepper. During the cook, he would wipe chicken with margarine, then apple cidar vinegar. At the end of the cook would apply bbq sauce. Not sure if was CHS, or just a store brand like kraft or something. Anyway, I haven't been able to match it with my offset or WSM. Sometimes, simple is better just like you just showed. Thanks. I have sub your channel
