I have a 36” Blackstone and a small one for RV and there are 2 things I hate about both. After 3 years of cooking on it, it still gets a big rust area on the griddle. I’ve cured it numerous times. Secondly, the grease pan in the back is difficult to get to and unless you get the tray perfectly placed the grease will drip everywhere. So with the Weber, the slate cook top is great, no rusting and the front grease pan and grease opening is really convenient and less messy. I sold my small Blackstone and replaced it with a small Weber. The lid on Webers is a con, albeit I will use a portable lid. The small Weber has adjustable feet to get it level which is another super nice feature. I’ll see how I like this small Weber before I think about buying this larger one.

If you mentioned these I missed it. But I think the biggest “cons” of this griddle is the lid not being cook safe which would be handy for steaming things and melting cheese. And second is the cheap plastic caster wheels are really unacceptable at this price point.
@GrillinWithDad7 ай бұрын
I totally agree on the lid piece! That would be great!

Thanks for sharing this info. I was getting ready to upgrade from Blackstone, but this is really an epic fail. In-use safe lid is, indeed, great for melting cheese on burgers and cheesesteaks. Agree 100% with your assessment. Unacceptable at this price point.

Weber always goes cheep on the wheels! I agree, at this price point, it should be coming stock with better wheels!!

I have the same model. Had to special order from HD. People complaining about price but this is replacing a 36 inch blackstone culinary from Lowe’s that started rusting within 2 months. Took Blackstone 5 months and several photos to replace the top which also rusted. Weber is built like a tank. I did not season it before cooking and it worked great. Do not regret the purchase at all. The same griddle from Ace Hardware has doors on the bottom vs the two buckets if someone prefers doors.

Great review. Weber needs to slash the pricing though. It's a griddle. No need for them to be so expensive. I bought my Blackstone pro series griddle years ago for $149. It's 28" has 3 burners, towel dispenser, prep tables on both sides and has a closing lid. My Blackstone is still in excellent condition because I keep it covered and in the garage. If weber wants to bring this product to the masses they need to lower their pricing. Or I suggest people save their money and buy a Blackstone.
@ILruffian7 ай бұрын
Your Blackstone is only in decent condition because you keep it in the garage. Mine had loads of peeling paint within a month, and it was covered with the Blackstone OEM cover. Pretty obvious that they did not use high temp spray paint (or failed to clean or properly prep the metal). If money is an issue, you can get by with one because the cooking performance is still decent. But I am looking to trade up to Weber quality. Buy once, cry once.
@GeorgeNadaYT7 ай бұрын
@@ILruffian I said my Blackstone is in excellent condition. If your unable to afford a home that has a garage I see how that might be a problem leaving it exposed to the elements all year around. But you also have to keep with the maintenance by cleaning it and reseasoning it after every cook.🤷♂️even weber grills can rust up and get paint peeling.
@ILruffian7 ай бұрын
@@GeorgeNadaYT If I can afford a $1,000 griddle, I can definitely afford a home with a garage. But I'd rather have a grill that I can keep on my patio where I have parties. Sorry, not going to ask three people to carry it up four stone steps every time I want to use it. I have no issues with the cooking surface rusting. But the paint on the wind guards and the grill itself peeled off within one month of owning it. It's a well-documented issue with Blackstones. Sorry, that type of stuff does not routinely happen with Weber products that quickly. Others are speculating that Blackstone does not use high heat spray paint. They are probably correct.

It’s like cooking on a pan inside the house. All you need to use is a little bit of olive oil so the food doesn’t stick to the flat top. I use bacon fat or beef tallow because that’s what I prefer and yet still majority of the time use plain olive oil. But overall you can cook healthy foods on it.

Now look at us…gas, pellets, now these must have griddles. Once the market is saturated with the old stuff…poof, another “new” idea.
