Happy Birthday! What a fantastic way to celebrate your birthday, salmon fishing in the Highlands of Scotland, on the stunning River Ness. Not only was he fishing for salmon on his birthday but visiting angler Ike was actually hooking and landing feisty grilse, that were 'fresh as paint', and straight off the tide. Happy days indeed ;))

The lighting is all down to the presence of sunlight and of course the crystal clear water in the River Ness that allows the sunlight to penetrate into the depths of the river. I wish I could see under the water Frank, we’ve had a gruelling hot summer which is usually unkind to salmon fishing and yet it looks like we’ll end up with an average season. The lift in water in July allowed salmon that wanted to run the system to head on through and they appeared to be doing just that for weeks on end. There appeared to be good numbers moving through but it’s difficult to tell without proper counting facilities. Hopefully all is good.
