Generally speaking just look what the "outmost" devotion is and try to get there ASAP (and try to prioritize resist reduction procs while soing so). Some people also like to pick up speed devotions like Jackal or Sailors Guide first. (In HC you might want to take turtle first also)

​@@MrSuvvri my first character is a sentinel, it was fine leveling it, DEE, curse of frailty with vulnerability, blood of dreeg and summon guardians with scion and ascension. That char is currently lvl 80 and doing fine

You dont. The build is centered around a lvl 94 RNG crafted amulet for 2.5 second cd reducion on the main skill. Level as DEE with the MI's to get %wep damage so you can lifesteal.

yeah, occultist would be a better experience. you can lvl with oathkeeper but it is kinda meh.

occultist imo is one of the easiest levelers HC

Yea early on I'd definitely start with occultist, dreeg's evil eye with transmuter or pets or bloody pox with fevered rage can all be great for leveling.
