@@TheFeralPainter looking forward to it! Black armour is a funny one, because the more you do to black the more you move away from a good strong colour and you can't shade it,only highlight, effects and weathering. It is the best colour for armour too. It's striking that fine balance with it.

Thanks to you I love doing leathers. I used to dread doing them but embracing the grim dark it has been liberating. I'm already sold on getting villiany inks but with my projects right now I feel like I should stick with my AK enamels for cohesion. I've naturally stopped using streak and grime and just keep with dark wash as I'm able to fine tune a balance between Grim Dark and "Clean Dark". That being said, how does the villainy inks dry in terms of chalkyness? I'm excited to start my Storm cast but I'll be following your recipe you did for custodes. I'll wrap up my long winded comment by again thanking you for all your tutorials, it's really helped me push my skills and approaches and the "tippy tappy" term is a steeple not only me technique but vocabulary when explaining how I did things 🤘🏻You are a legend dude💀🫡

Hi! Awesome video, the effect on that leather at the end was phenomenal! I've properly been hammering grimdark compendium and your videos for the last few days because I've decided for me that 2025 is going to be the "Year of Grimdark". I've always loved the aesthetic and I really want to spend the next year focusing on it as a style. Just a quick question, hopefully you'll see it, but I've seen you and a few of the painters at GDC say to just use a flat palette for your enamels rather than using one of the steel mixing pot things. I was just wondering what the reasoning behind it was, as I can't wrap my head around why it wouldn't be better to use one of them rather than just a palette. Hopefully you'll see this and have the time to answer, if not, I'm sure I'll suffer through regardless. :)

@@donewiththis-2012 u can use one of those there just small. We just say get something bigger depending if ur going to use more different enamels. I use citadel large bases. Thanks again for support. Hope you enjoy your grimdark painting

Yes works perfect on yellow. Check out my imperial fists tutorial and replace the washes with vi

I love you original leather method and have been using it with lots of different colours since watching it. I've got lots of other things on my list to work though first, but I'll probably end up picking up some of these inks and giving this a try at some point.

Almost as if you read my mind. I only have the three of the V1 inks and can't splurge on any more so HOPEFULLY.........they still work. I actually thought Element Games only stocked V2 but apparently.....not lol. That backpack looks ace by the way :)

This might work... I am currently painting some Drukhari and anyone who painted drukhari knows that their shoes are quite small. So maybe this recipe is better for making the drukhari shoes look good.

Artis Opus recently did a video with them. Titled "Testing VILLAINY inks: GRIMDARK in a bottle?" Speaking of which, I highly recomemend Artis Opus' brushes. The drybrush and pointed brushes are top notch.
