One the best novel series in 40k, both friendly to newcomers, and keeping a good balance between sympathetic characters, and showing how messed up the imperium is.

Oh boy I remember reading my first novel, first and only which was magnificent I like there Tom Clancy vibe and how imperium is not the saviors you would you expect them to be, plus after my brother got a hold of my novel he was so impressed!" with story he got that same tattoo in the novel on his arm, one thing for sure about the Tanith it had a good influence. On my family, and influence on my imagination the battlefield is loud with battle But to a Tanith silent reigns and death follows like silent cry." 😃👍

This firmly reminds me to outright vow to begin reading “The Founding”, Books 1-3, soon this year. “A Gaunt's Ghost omnibus”, as one of the very few physical Black Library novels I could find without great effort, much less in new condition and reasonably priced, available on this continent. Due to GW's expected restriction of GDN's attempts to publicize his own 40K audiobook Narrations. Very fine, summarizing profile. The particular Kishan Sheth track as BG score is suitably eerie, mysterious and yearning. I do wonder as to the fates of those 2,500 troops of the original three regiments who were left on Tanith. I suppose that may or may not be addressed in this or another series' novels. As ever, you've my deep thanks for more Warhammer, 40K and Imperium regiment coverage. This famous group are intriguing and this video certainly piqued my interest, GDN. I'll look forward to any more that you produce on these Ghosts or any other characters. First and only! See you next time, have a healthy and awesome day. The Emperor protects!

The series might be slightly dated lore-wise after so long, but it is an incredibly good grounded saga of the many characters in this regiment.

these are the books that got me into 40k in the first place so they have a very special place in my heart!

In case anyone isn't already subscribed to Arch, if you'd like more detail on the adventures of the Tanith First and Only, he's doing a series on the Sabat World's Crusade.

I did some videos on that too, once upon a time.

Gaunt is a legend and his stories among the best of the 40k setting. Very telling that the best characters are commissars. Gaunt, Yarrick and Chiapha Cain, the holy trinity.

If they would've ever met, they could've formed Captain Imperial Guard.

@GrimDarkNarrator those three combined are literally capable of saving the Imperium.

One of the Greatest novel series I have read. Dan Abnett is a great writer bringing my second favorite 40k novel series Eisenhorn to light as well. Must reads for anyone liking military science fiction.

I don't know if GW were trying to evoke a specific historical regiment, but the general tanith vibes are very Scottish/Irish with a bit of Welsh in the mix too.

Yep. These are the books that got me into 40K. Fantastic!

Really great video as always! By the by, you could probably get away with doing audio books of Gaunts Ghosts. There's quite a few KZbinrs on here who have done them already, as well as a variety of other books. Some Imperial Fist is doing all of the Ciaphas Cain books, while Baldermort does reads on on a bunch of different ones, including the recent Arks of Omen, among others. However, I certainly understand the trepidation given GW's history.

Thanks. As far as an Arks of Omen and the like read goes, I don't think anyone considers that a copyright issue, as those are codexes with bits of lore, as opposed to full novels. I'd consider doing the first Gaunt's Ghosts book since its old as hell at this point, but I dunno if I can manage it while doing continued Warhammer Fantasy books.
