The Attuning Lantern doesnt deal direct damage, instead every hit increases the targets vulnerability to resonance damage. The level of vulnerability is displayed by the counter. Resonance damage can be applied by a few different means: 1. You can use the trait of the Ancient Limb enemy, which on block/parry/absorb damages the enemy. 2. You can use the trait of the Skewer enemy, which creates a short living shadow that will damage the enemy when the enemy hits it. 3. You can use the Burst Lantern, which doesnt deal direct damage neither and instead creates a counter that you can explode with the Burst Lanterns secondary attack. Though this requires watching 2 counters it can pay of with defeating a boss and skipping a few of its attack patterns. - If you watch closely, this is what I am doing at the end of the bosses hp bar, it is the orance coloured counter.
