I love your take on Dream's character. The way he seems to always deflect the question, until he's faced with Tommy, who after all of the trauma has came out stronger and is able to fully confront Dream with an existential crisis that shatters his whole perception of self. Also the expression Punz makes when Dream says he has nothing left to lose conveys so much subtle emotion.

My favourite quote from the DSMP in relation to Dream's character is Tommy's "All you do is lie!" Because it's the complete truth. Dream not only lies to everyone else, but to himself. Because deep down he cares about Punz, and he misses Sapnap and George, and he wants his friends back, and he wants his life back. But he list himself in his own lies, and it's all too late now.

I love the moment with the snapping of the strings Dream has on his wrist 0:46 It's just a really cool way of visually showing him cutting ties, because as we know the strings represent a kind of control/connection, in this case having them around the wrists rather than around the head or neck like Dream's strings typically are is a cool way of showing that they are equals & that it's Dream cutting attachments that would hold him back. *I keep replaying this video because it's just really cool!*

gosh it’s sad to realize how out of everyone- Tommy and Sam had the most manipulation strings attached… I’d argue Sam more then Tommy, because he’s older, and doesn’t realize it… he’s so drowned in his head that he didn’t even think that Dream had him hanging on by a thread, just like Tommy… except Tommy could escape, Tommy had somewhere to go, Tommy had people to protect him… Sam was the opposite. He couldn’t leave Dream, He chad nobody but himself to protect him… it reminds me of that song “Feels like we have matching wounds but, mines still black and bruised, and yours is, perfectly fine” They do, Sam and Tommy have matching wounds mentally from Dream… except Sam never managed to escape it fully… Tommy didn’t either but at least it wasn’t every day having to focus on Dream… unlike Sam. Sam was in a version of Tommy’s exile every day for the entire time he was wardening the prison… and in the end it was Tommy’s exile… even Dream compared the experiences- Dream knew what he was doing

I could literally go on and on about Sam and how his support group has either abandoned him or betrayed or both and how he barely had anything good going for him besides Ponk and we saw where that went! Sam is my tragic babygirl and I fight for him so much when it comes to this fandom! Because even the fandom turned their back on Sam and blamed him for everything

It’s honestly sad how nobody is realizing that Sam only did bad things because Dream had him wrapped up- Sam was probably having his mental health degrading by the day like Tommy and he didn’t have a sense of what was right and wrong, because the only people that told him were Dream and Quackity, two terrible people on the server who nobody should turn to for advice.

Sam actually offered Tommy to come live with him right at the beginning of his exile! And then Dream told him to back off since this was a punishment for Tommy. The only person who even tried to understand Sam was Foolish, but that was after Tommy's death and Sam was already too far gone 😞

I love the shattered mask at 2:23. It seems the “identity” he created for himself was destroyed and after that he really didn’t have one because that was what Dream had become, a villain, and nothing more.

I love Dream's character and your take on him! He's deflects questions with others all the time until Tommy confronted him for the last time and he realized that Tommy has grown up, become stronger, and isn't afraid of himself. The idea of not having power over Tommy is enough to really rattle Dream and his whole self perception. Also... Dream saying that 'He has nothing left to lose." and Punz's look shows that Punz in himself really does care and considered Dream as a friend. Also, Also, Sam and Dream's 'Who are you really' segment is so freaking fitting and the details are beautiful!!

i love the detail of Punz flinching a bit at the final “nothing left to lose”. Dream and Punz only have each other. they’re each others only ally’s(and in my HC, best friends). if the dreamsmp didn’t get blown up, dream would’ve kept pushing people away, including punz, and then he’d truly be alone. (idk i just really love staged-duo and their dynamic doesn’t get enough attention so i appreciate the lil details😭😭😭) great animatic as always grim ^^

Stagedduo is so tragic as well because when Punz said “I’m his friend” at the finale lore, Dream didn’t even acknowledge that :( I’m planning on having more animatics with more scenes of this duo because they’re really interesting

Man this was sooooo good but with you that's nothing new there are some many things here I love like Dream sinning "So you feel entitled to a sense of control" almost like he's projecting his own issues onto Wilbur and Tommy, Dream and Tommy both saying "let me look at the sun." and the repetition of "I have nothing left to prove cause I have nothing left to loose." at first Dream says it to Sapnap and George officially declaring their friendship to be over then Dream says it to Sam seemingly in an effort to keep up his persona and then finally at 2:13 we have Dream saying it to Tommy right in front of Punz and Punz looking genuinely concerned at seeing Dream like this. I also love the repeated line of "Who are you really?" at first we have Sapnap quite literally asking Dream who he is realising that this is not the friend he used to know then we have at 1:42 my favourite shot of this whole thing with Dream and Sam asking each other "who are you really?" because they are enemies they hate each other and want to kill one another but I feel that they probably understand each other more then anyone else Dream understands Sam and him are awful terrible people and Sam realises they both have done horrible things for what they think is right. I also like how in the last couple shots you drew Tommy first backing away from Dream but then turning around and facing him head on and with Tommy asking Dream "Who are you really?" the mask quite literally crumbles apart and we are just left with Dream half smiling trying to still keep up the persona and half looking like he's on the verge of crying. All in all 10/10 animatic.

The part I especially like is the changing nature of the "where are you going?" part. Sapnap asks it as in "Where are you going without us?" as Dream is abandoning his former friends. Sam asks it as in "Where are you going away from me?" as while he hates Dream, he also craves his presence, because otherwise he's all alone in the prison. And Tommy's is the most poignant one - "Where are you going with this? What are you trying to achieve? What's your goal?" And he is the only one who breaks through Dream's mask. It's just great on so many levels ~ ♥️

The fact that dream just backs off when Tommy ask him who is he really just makes dream realized that not even him knows what he is, dream it's just Duch a broken and corrupted character because of his need of control and power over everything and his goal of being in control of everyone so that the server is back together

The fact that Sapnap and George’s strings are on the wrist while Dream’s are on people’s necks. One is friendly, a slight tug. One will choke you. After Dream leaves his friends, when Sapnap goes after him, he’s adjusting his mask. Now this is interesting because in most scenes like this in other animatics Dream is either standing menacingly or just giving a blank stare. Yet here, he’s adjusting his mask and tugging his hood tighter, even tho BOTH WERE ALREADY ON his face. It shows that he’s very terrified of actually being confronted with his true self, so he is always double and triple checking on his mask/persona. Also Tommy and Dream in the “let me look at the sun” part is so good! In the first frame Dream towers over Tommy trapping him in his shadow so when Tommy begs to see the sun it’s both literally and figuratively. Then in the second scene, Dream has moved, so the shadow is no longer on Tommy and he is no longer trapping Tommy, but now Tommy has green strings around his neck and Dream’s axe is out. It’s almost like Dream is taunting Tommy with the idea of freedom. “Oh yes, you can see the sun now… my axe is out tho. Also… none of your friends came to your party so do you really WANT to go back?” Lastly, in many scenes, Dream has at least a hood on, if not a full mask. But in the interactions with Tommy, he is bare faced and his hood is down. It’s why he targets Tommy so much, because he’s afraid of Tommy, the only one who has seen him without a mask to hide behind.

There’s so much to unpack!! OMG one of my favorite songs with my favorite characther. I love this so much and how we can see all sees c!dream as a monster and are afraid of him. But in the end c!Tommy is no longer afraid of him and his mask is falling down as we can see c!punz face looking at him confused.

It's such a good song! It's based on what Wilbur said, how Dream is losing control and that scares him. By the end, Tommy is able to stand up to him and Dream starts tearing at the seams ✨️ And Punz sees a side of Dream he didn't expect.

I think the detail of punz just looking not really okay when dream says "i have nothing else to lose!" With punz by his side Its just punz realising that dream has no attachment to him While punz does see him as a friend (as he mentions himself but dream never confirms on his end) Dream cut his longest and most close friendships (sapnap and george) to have no attachments which obviously means he is not going to form new ones "Dream who do you miss the most now that youre here?" '...tommy i think its time for you to leave.' (In the time dream got out and lived inside the prison willingly he had a lot of signs and many were badly written or confusing [-"las nevadas" for revenge purposes] but the only name that was there perfectly written was "George." [And a try in sapnaps name] clearly c!dream misses them both but maybe george the most because well...sapnap did say he would kill him if he saw him again)

@@Grimmijaggers bro does not care abt him 😔 (C!punz rebound moment /j) I think its something that many dont acknowledge because they center in c!tommy and fully reduce to c!dream just being a full full on bitch that never cared about no one and that has never lost anything (image c!dream himself built for the other members of the smp to have about him) C!dream lost his friends in the most dramatic way and now has the one he called brother openly saying he will kill him and take his last live and the one he had done so much for just go into radio silence (not knowing c!george is literally replacing him with god who looks and sounds like him and gives him materials but he still misses c!dream because well c!george didnt give a damn about the throne he just felt betrayed and like a tool) C!dream is such an interesting character i fucking live for it

Heya grimmi! Sorry for commenting twice, but I have a quick question! I came up with an au idea a few days ago. It’s basically just what if every dsmp member, had their own dragon. Their size, and strengths would vary, but I thought it would be sick to draw a few scenes that are important to the canon, with these dragons. Like, imagine Sam having some sort of gas dragon, and every time he enters dreams cell, a horrifying hiss could be heard, for this to work I need someone who can draw humans, do you know anyone who might be up for it?
