Magnificent!! The lake is much smaller than it was in 1953 so finding exact spots would be very difficult. BTW, this is the same lake that was used in the opening scene and several episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. The ranger hut was used in the episode when Andy got arrested for fishing without a license.

I saw this movie when it came to the theater in Tarentum, PA. 22 miles north of the burgh. It was either 54 or 55. I was 8 or 9. Probably at the Manos or Harris theater. I remember sitting thru it 3 times till mom came in looking for me. I fell in love with Julie Adams. The musical score was haunting when the creature appeared. One of my all time favorite movies!!!! Thanks for the visit to the actual location, younze did good!

So cool. My mother was Betty (Julie) Adams' locker mate through high school at Little Rock High School, graduating class of 1944. ( It's now called Central Highschool). Betty's mother was a hair dresser and Betty was very sweet and reserved, Mom always recalled. They remained pen pals throughout the 1950s, and then lost touch with each other. What I would give if Mom had saved those letters. As always, awesome vlog ☮️

Great video. You should look for the spot where they filmed the opening scenes for The Andy Griffith Show, plus other locations they filmed. That area was heavily used by the show. Also, if you want a tip, go to Yuma, Arizona to where they filmed Jabba's Sail Barge scene and take a metal detector and a shovel because people are still finding parts of the set.

Fun Fact... Ginger Stanley who is 91yrs old this year was the underwater stunt double for both lead actresses in the film and the first of its two sequels that followed. Well known for her aquatic work in photos-film etc. she often worked at water attractions and was as runway model as well when not splashing around. She even doubled for Esther Williams once because she had an ear drum problem and was inducted into the Mermaid Hall of Fame that remembers many who once made a living that way. Her underwater modeling work is quite etheral and skilled since letting the water clear while posing especially from bubbles meant minutes not seconds holding her breath. Indeed the actor who played the underwater creature in the first films recounted he could easily hold his for 4 or more as long as not needing to move much but only for 2min if a fight scene was on before needing air.
