The way i Always saw it was that somewhere down his family line Wu had a Wessen ancestor. over the years the DNA got so watered down that his family were essentially human and the ancestor forgotten. when Wu was scratched by the lycanthrope and infected it interacted with what little Wessen DNA he had and not only activated it but made it powerful enough to manifest.

I have the exact same theory for the show Bitten since the main character was from a long line of Wolves and in that show the females seem to never be able to survive after being bitten but I think since Laura Vandervoort’s character has some recessive wolf genes after being bitten by her boyfriend those genes unlocked which was what allowed her to survive the change.

@@TheChickenlittle11yeah that’s the exact same theory I had for bitten as well for Elena she came from a family of wolves and when clay bite her and she was strong enough she would survive what I don’t get is why they didn’t think of this in the show it’s a common thing to look at the family they should’ve tried it on Elena’s sister since they came from the same bloodline but she was killed before that.

We always see Monore and Hank aiding Nick in plenty of battles but even when Wu’s there he’s just chilling with a gun or fighting in human form. Plus it doesn’t help that we barely saw Wu he should’ve been involved more like Hank was and they should’ve given him more fighting scenes with his powers

@@Rageren Yes he was. As soon as he became privy to the Grimm thing. People have to remember that he wasn't Nick's partner, he wasn't Wesen. So he's really the odd person out. So they worked him in later on quite well and even gave him an ability.

Good thing the big groups like Blackclaw, Hadrians wall, and especially the royals never learned about this. To be able to give regular humans this sort of power without the lifetime of learning control would be nasty. I'd say the same for the Juliette/Eve transformation bit that was a very rare and unstable series of events.
