This is going to a beauty for me, as having flown in the Gazelle during my service time , the last time in 1988 was a Comp A pax on the passing of my mother who had also flown as a pax in one at RAF Shawbury.

Fair play and props (lol) to Polychop for standing behind their product. The Gazelle was one of only two mods that I regretted buying, the other being the Christian Eagle. However this update changes that completely. The Gazelle no longer feels like a flighty anti-gravity scifi machine, and instead feels much much more organic and analogue. Lets face it hardly any of us will fly a real Gazelle, so it's irrelivant if it feels exactly like the real world machine, but now at least it feels more like a light weight and nimble recon helicopter, and less like a Blue Bottle house fly on a sugar rush. I'm definately going to be spending much more time in the Gazelle now thanks to these updates

Really like the low speed handling of this new one. The high speed still feels a bit wonky with banking not really doing all that much, you really have to push the pedals to get it to turn. But overall a massive improvement from polychop =)

Yeah definitely have to readjust all my axis tuning for it. Only had a few minutes to try. It kept tilting over on take off. So I have some adjustments.

If your first helo mod was the Gazelle then you loved it. If you owned any other helo mod, like the Blackshark, Apache, Huey etc. and then flew the Gazelle, you hated it. I am the latter. It was my 4th helo mod and compared to the others it sucked ass. I haven't flown it for 8 months. I am stable version, so I will have to wait before I get the update. We shall compare, but I trust Cap's evaluation and his assessments of anything DCS is very well founded.

I'm the same as you, in that I bought the Gazelle after the Blackshark and Mi-24 etc. I'm on open beta and I can assure you that the Gazelle is much much better now

I'm the former. I love the Gazelle and have tried to talk guys into buying it so we could fly together. I must say that I'm not crazy about the update. I preferred it before. Now I'll have to reset my controls and learn to fly it all over again. Figure I learned it once I'll learn it again. Like that it has new weapons available. The main gripe I have is that there are almost no training missions. You're basically on your own to figure it out or spend a good deal of time watching KZbin.

Did the damage model get addressed along with the flight model? I gave up putting Gazelles into missions because of so many occurrences of them flying along just fine despite having had the entire tail assembly blown clean off by mutliple missile/cannon impacts.

I also faced the problem having still the "old" Gazelle. Got me quite confused while watching this video about the update. Until I figured out in the properties that my game wasn't running on open beta, then I changed it. So, make sure your DCS game runs on the "open beta" version, then it should automatically begin to download the latest patch. Ignore the "insert code" field. (edit: I run DCS on Steam)

You need a lot of right rudder on take off, increasing it as you pull up the collective. To prevent tipping you need a fair amount of left stick as well

I not loving the new model, sorry, as I'm not sure the yaw pedals are any less blocky, in the new model, using twist grip on a joystick rather than using rudder pedels, even with or without curves. The aggressive right role on take off, doesn't seem right. and the agressive, heavy rocking of the Gazelle in flight using rudder inputs or under Autopilot and auto hover doesn't seem right? I disconnected my Twist grip spring, with address a lot of issues for the Apache, KA-50, improved the Huey, but did do much fot thecSA342 Gazzzell

@@_Dibbler_ I tried to reduce to almost minimum. Same issue. It starts spinning as soon as it gets off the ground. My rudder has a little effect but not enough to secure a successful hover.

@@hueyfoo I also use a lot of rudder, 90% or so on take off and hover. But yeah, its a little weird how much rudder is needed, seems the little bugger has quite some torque in the main rotor and not a lot of tail rotor....

You make it sound like it should simply pass BETA and go straight to normal DCS. Oh I forgot the normal DCS client simply pays and some time down the road the module does arrive.

The latest update has screwed up even more for me at least anyway. It's almost impossible to make it hover and take off. Not only that, the weapons are not working either. Pulling the trigger on either rocket or gun won't fire.
