@@EFLDebate Have you seen some of Grimsby's home defeats !!!! We regularly get hammered at home, so Artell really is not a great manager a lot of the time.

@@Graham-w8u Yes, I've been to all the home games, but I would guess you haven't from your comment. Let's wait until the end of the season before passing judgement because I am very opimistic!

Interesting the comment about a playing style synonymous with Crewe but not with Grimsby. We were known for a long time as a club with a pass and move philosophy, particularly under Sir Alan Buckley. We didn't stay in the 2nd tier for virtually the whole of the 90s by playing route 1 football. The fans want passing football but they want it to be paired with pragmatism. When he first joined we didn't have the players to carry out the strategy he wanted, we took some pummellings and he was coming under pressure from a sizable minority of the fanbase, just a few months into the job. Thankfully, Doncaster was the turning point, some would say a couple of games too late, and he went to a pragmatic 3-5-2 for the majority of the remainder of the season and we stayed up relatively comfortably. I think to be fair to DA, he has said that he wouldn't take the same approach again and it was the first time he'd gone into a new club as a manager, so it was a steep learning curve for him. We look good away from home and are not conceding many. At home, where we're expected to be a bit more on the front foot, we've struggled, particularly late on in games. Not having a natural CM on the bench all season has massively contributed to that. But with Thompson and Davies on the comeback from injury, we (touch wood) stay injury-free for a while and will have finishers to come off the bench and hopefully see us perform for 90 minutes at home instead of 45

Good interview. He had done well over the year as a whole, but we will see whether he manages to reverse the (currently atrocious) home form over the course of the season without changing his philosophy and losing the momentum which the amazing sequence of away results has given us. Why we can defend so well away and look so vulnerable and concede so many goals at home is an important question to answer.
