I was studying Elec Engg in the Regent Street Polytechnic, London, in 1960-1964.Later it was promoted to become the University of West minister. I had planned to self-finance my stay in Britain by working on Trawlers during my Christmas vacations, and on big vessels during long summer vacations, as I was already a fully qualified Radio Officer from India. The scheme worked beautifully. I sailed as Marconi staff Radio Operator from Hull in December 1960, but for next 3 years I worked with Northern Trawlers. I cherish the sweet memories on those Trawlers with fishermen, fun filled life under tough conditions and had new experience on codfishing in Arctic Sea in total darkness. Later BBC London invited me for a talk on "Deep Sea fishing" which was broadcast live in 1964. My salute to those hardworking fisherman.
