I am surprised that there was no mention of "Sore Throat". They were definitely one of the pioneering grind bands in the mid to late 80s. Death to Capitalist Hardcore EP (1987). I'm not a big fan of grind/noise/core, but that album has all the ingredients. They took the minimalist to the extreme, with ultra-short songs, very raw, guttural and screaming vocals, short short short, fast blasting songs. I mean that EP had 40+ songs ... most of which are under 30 seconds. I don't know how much influence they had on other bands ... they seemed to be pretty anti-everyone, but they were there when grindcore was starting to form life.

@alexesau1667 жыл бұрын
Sam, from previous episodes you seem to have this stance of not allowing bands with only one legendary album to join the family tree. However, what I notice about several grindcore legendary bands is they are mostly one-off projects. Either the band does one or two great albums and breaks up, or they start out playing sloppy grindcore then they refine their sound in a death metal style. Is grindcore the exception because the output is such an onslaught of brutality? Is having an entire discography lasting only 30 minutes enough to leave an impact? Granted I’m not the biggest fan of grindcore, I like music that’s a little more developed and melodically structured, which is why I like the later Carcass records.

Actually, we are not. It's a multi-camera live stream shoot and that has some software issues that sometimes rear their heads. Sorry for the problems this week. Although it's always fun to read the avalanche of comments about how we should use this or that mic, it has nothing to do with the mics.

This is such a brilliant show. I wish there was a lock horns for all genres of music, not just metal.

You've missed very important album from Eastern Europe. Dead Infection - Chapter of Accidents.

They didn't discuss goregrind as a whole. Dead Infection rules, but they're goregrind.
