Dear Paddy Thank you for your visit to Grindelwald Youth Hostel! :) We are glad that you enjoyed the great view of the world famous Eiger! In all of our nearly 50 hostels it is standard to check-in in the late afternoon. But you always have the possibility to deposit your luggage. All information about our services for your stay can be found on our website. Also, in our shared rooms it has always been standard practice to make your own beds. We are sorry to hear that this did not meet your expectations. We would be glad to welcome you again soon in one of our hostels in the most beautiful places of Switzerland! Kind regards Your Swiss Youth Hostels Team

There's one interesting thing I've noticed and today people don't complain enough about the cost of things because we've been duped into thinking complaining isn't polite so that's why the cost of things is on a runaway train. We should howl like crazy or just boycott everything overpriced.

I like it that you deviated from the usual fancy activities on Jungfraujoch - the Ice Palace, the Lindtt chocolate experience, the post office and gift shops - and instead hit the trail, walked on the glacier amid great views and peaks, towards the quaint perched-to-the-Mönch hut, the Mönchsjochhütte, a pitstop for climbers to Mönch, Jungfrau, etc. Just apt for "the next level adventure". You just made that very expensive daytour truly worth it! Acclimatization at Kleine Scheidegg could help prevent altitude sickness.

Jungfrau Joch is one of those things that many, many Swiss people never get to experience. It's very expensive and doesn't allow for the usual discounts, and why would you willingly subject yourself to the most densely packed congregation of tourists in the entire country? Well, I am one of those Swiss people and I took the opportunity to go during the pandemic, when there were barely any international tourists. And it was 100% worth it. And I also agree that if you skip the hike to Mönchsjochhütte, you're missing out on by far the biggest highlight of the whole thing. It was an unforgettable experience for me.

I used to ski in Grindelwald every year, or the prettier Murren on the other side of the valley (The Schiltorn is where the Bond movie was filmed). Never been in the summer, but I know it's beautiful. Skiers tend to miss the snow, so it would 'hurt' to be there without it lol. Enjoy it. I miss those mountains...the only problem with living in Thailand is I can't ski anymore.

Hi Paddy. I love your videos and they have been very helpful in planning our trip to Switzerland this summer. Keep up the good work. One request: please stay off the grasses and wild flower areas and keep to the trail. It’s fragile tundra and walking on it can damage it for years. I’m not “get off my lawn” guy, but it’s best to practice leave no trace guidelines. We’ll be there in July and August. Maybe we will see you then. Peace.

Yes, the crowds can ruin the experience. Was there in the mid 90's, didn't seem that crowded back then long before the new cable car was in service. Next trip think about picking up a motorcycle in Munich & spend a couple of weeks on it or a tour. Beach's Motorcycle Adventures has a great 2 week trip, The Clasic Alpine Adventure. You can ride in a group or go off on your own & just meet up at the hotels at nite. Check out their itinerary, think you would have a great time. The best roads, passes, cities & villages in 2 weeks. The best time, finding that little bench on top of a pass, no one around, having a snack & a drink, taking it all in.

With a SBB Halbtax (swiss railways) abonnement, you could have saved money. Priced at 185 CHF for a year, it alone would have given you a 120 CHF discount on your Jungfraujoch trip. Considering your other public transport expenses, I'm confident you would have saved more than the additional 65 CHF, it is valid also for some cablecars and also some discount on boats like in Brienz. Another option would be the Swiss Half Fare Card, which I read is valid for Jungfraujoch too, costs just 120 CHF and is valid only one month - however, I am not exactly sure how the Half Fare Card works, as I never had it.

Oh you went to Top of Europe. My partner called that place a giant supermaket This is probably the only place I would not recommend. It is just far to expansive for what you get. With that money you could go to so many other mountains with much better views.😂 I am glad that you found that hut. We went there, too. The ambience there is completely different than at the train station. Unfortunately it is not for everyone, because of the altitude. And some people just struggle to walk on snow. And btw I think the skin of that cheese was moste likely not edible. Most of the time you can't eat the skin of cheese in Switzerland😅 And we usually just cut it and put it in the soup. 😊 Love your videos. Keep up the good work❤

These people would give anything to experience just a portion of what you are and to even have one last breath. OK, perhaps it's worth repeating: don't even _think_ of visiting Switzerland without buying a transportation pass of some sort! Unless you are going to never-ever use trains, cable cars, funiculars, buses, etc., you may survive without any pass. But if you are like any normal person, you'll want to buy at least the HalfFare pass (aka. HalbTax). It costs 120 CHF and is valid for 1 month, so it's really _really_ cheap, and it gives you 50% off _all transportation._ It's a total no-brainer and a must. It will pay for itself within a few days. Actually just one trip to the Jungfraujoch will almost pay for it. There are other passes available for more money but they also can give you even better deals _if_ your itinerary is right. But the HalfFare is the standard universally valid no-brainer if you have no inclination to restrict your itinerary in any way (time-wise or space-wise).

Maybe the hostel and hotels in Grindelwald don’t need money that’s why they don’t have staff attending to guests needs. They just want to host tourists who are eager to go to Switzerland to see the place. Do they care about guests feedback on their service? How do you rate the hospitality and service of the hotels you stayed at?

Your photography/video work belongs in a National Geographic magazine. And how do you get your drone back to you while in a moving train? (Last video you did.) Not to bring up a sad topic but I asked you this in another message but it was by then an old video so likely you didn't see it. You mentioned in a video that Hanna Stone had died. I'd heard a snippet of one of her songs a while back on one of your videos and you were kind to reply when I asked who it was, and I've since used her songs in my videos. When I looked it up online I found a 16 year-old Hannah Stone had committed suicide, but nothing for a Hanna Stone. Are they one and the same? Or is our Hanna Stone hopefully still alive? If you are heading in your European journey to the South of France one day, I used to live there and can tell you a couple of things to do that few know of but would be beautiful and fun to see and do.
