I have a soft spot for those little 50cc retro scoots. Used to have a 40 year old italian brand moped with a similar 2 stroke 49cc, and tried to take it on a sandy trail through the florida woods. After spilling it three times and losing half my camping gear to a failed wooden basket, the motor said "im tired boss" and lost spark for no discernable reason. Pushed it over a mile by down the sandy road to a nearby campground and spent an awful night, managed to get it fired up again the next morning and putzed into town for a resupply before it lost spark yet again. Absolutely awful trip, 10/10 would do it again.

Just a pro tip, with the 50cc moped you can really pump that thing up and make it go well over 80km/h. Get a bigger carb maybe switch the cylinder to a 60 or a 70cc along with the piston. If you file down the head it will also force it higher RPMs so better speed, some food for thought along with a fun project video maybe? The scooter challenge would have been more fun with a certain budget because just upgrading the parts I talked about would cost you MAYBE 100€. DUnno about americas tho everything there is expensive asf

This would have been a challenge that killer Will would have been up for. That was hilarious Edwin riding that scooter like a skateboard. That is the nice thing about doing these challenges in North Idaho. it's the most beautiful place on the planet to do this hands down.

Some random Honda detail correction: The Express SR (NX50) was only made from ‘81-‘83, so not quite an over-50-year-old ‘71 as mentioned. Even the original Express (NC50) didn’t come out until ‘77. The SR also has about 3 horsepower (when running properly), being a slightly improved version of the original NC50’s 2.6 horsepower engine.

I have a 50cc gy6 with an 80cc head that I cut the frame in half, and welded a yamaha big bear 350 front end to...making it a reverse trike. I put a 10" pit bike tire on the rear. It's not fast but can carry a 300 pound guy up most any incline. A 150cc gy6 scooter as a reverse trike would be even better.
