Maybe blank it off and see what happens before you go messing with the carbie jets. Also, it screams FIRE HAZARD to me.. How about a vent tube to dump it away from the hot engine? Hmm.. or into the exhaust so it shoots flames out the back? Heh. Flames!

Nice. If you know fcr carb tuning . The acelerator pump. Squirts a shot of fuel every throttle wack. Typically best to face this squirt enter the carb asap just delayed enough the slide is out of its way. Also theres a bleed jet in the inside bottom of the bowl. Making it smaller or plugged will increase the ap squirt amount. . Applying boost pressure to the bowl vent should increase main jet flow .. and adding it to the fuel tank vent . Will increase fuel psi while under boost also.

You may need a high pressure fuel pump to counter the boost pressure in the intake pushing back on the jet and/or I have heard that running a small boost line to the bowl of the carb works to counter the pressure too?
@lesgobrandon98264 жыл бұрын
That would apply to blow-through setups where the carb is between the supercharger/turbo and the engine. This is a suck-through system, so not needed. I'm more worried about the BOV venting fuel-air mix at the engine. I just keep thinking 'FIRE!'
@aldrineuri1224 жыл бұрын
These guys have all my dream toys
@DirtGearTv4 жыл бұрын
Definitely will need a much larger set of jets. Also, keep in mind that at part throttle you shouldn’t be seeing boost. What happens is that you reach your maximum volumetric efficiency much quicker at part throttle opening, usually resulting in torque increase right off the bottom. Keeping in mind that 0 represents 100% VE. Once you have a chance to wind it up slowly and hold WOT that will give you an accurate idea of your producing enough air volume to hold consistent PSI or if you need to play with your pulley sizes. These generally work well with carbureted setups so i’m excited to see where you end up!

@xhuff3173 жыл бұрын
Plumb in some small high pressure lines from the pressurized intake elbow to the carb vents for the float bowl. You’ll have the equivalent of a boost referenced rising rate fuel pressure regulator. You’ll need to fab a ‘manifold’ that allows for one way operation (so the float bowl sees atmosphere under vacuum) and a way to bleed off boost pressure to the float bowl to give you some adjustability with the fueling under boost. That will probably solve 87% of your fueling issues.
@JCK07113 жыл бұрын
Could you have ran a chain or belt off of the counter shaft next to the drive sprocket? I guess you would only get boost when the clutch would be engaged and in movement. It may improve the life of supercharger because it wouldn't be spinning at idle. I'm no mechanic just wondering if this could work. Cool build!
@430rico4 жыл бұрын
The boost coming in when you blip the throttle totally makes sense. With the afr obviously being lean due to introducing significantly more air without any more fuel, it will lean bog when you gradually open the throttle. However, due to the nature of a pumper carb, whacking open the throttle squirts a jet of raw fuel into the intake giving you the necessary fuel to make adequate power. But once that squirt is gone, she goes super lean again and bogs/dies. Good luck with the carb tuning. There is a lot of trial and error when going into uncharted territory like this.

It needs a proper fuel regulator, you may need to increase fuel line pressure proportionally with the Boost pressure. Boost pressure kind of “fights” back on the jets and starves your engine during full opened throttle. Great Job mate! Very looking forward to see it running. I have similar project here on a 1967 two cylinder 4 stroke, but i will be running injected with a FT250 Fuel Tech and electric fuel pump on E85.
@edengates662 жыл бұрын
Yep love that drone
@oikkuoek4 жыл бұрын
Others noticed these too, but mentioning them anyway: That BOV does more harm than good. U have no intake before the carb where overboosting would cause issues. After the fuel mixer, it causes only mix issues and intake leaks, leaning out the system. Even in large systems they use solely burst panels to dissipate backfires, no actual valves, for this same reason. When you have active mixture tuning, as in EFI, you can control the boost level before mixing the fuel into it. But in mechanical wet system, you just need to direct the flow into the chamber. The carb+slide handles the amount of A/F mix, the screw just packs it up a bit. You can alter the psi level by changing the gear ratio on the belt drive. O2-sensor bung would also be a nice addition to the pipe. You can use it to tune the carb, and when finally converting it to EFI, the bung is already there.

Blow off valves are used only in turbocharged-engines and its purpose is to relieve the pressure built up within the air intake system that is capable of stalling the compression wheel. A true supercharged engine works using forced induction which internally channels the air pressure back into the combustion system and compresses it using a pump. A turbocharger works on the same principle however it uses a turbine and the exhaust from the car’s engine to provide the necessary compression in the air system, not a crankshaft driven pump
@jamesmcgee92794 жыл бұрын
Is this motor a single or dual cam? You might end up needing some new cams with slightly larger lobes. Probably do some slight milling to smooth the intake/exhaust flow. Awesome builds guys, can't wait to see more. But I'm sure I'm not the first to mention it in the comments, but they blow off valve isn't necessary for a draw through supercharger setup. The section you have put the blow off valve on is under vacuum when the throttle is closed, as is the supercharger. So if the blow off valve did manage to open, it would actually draw are in, not release Air out. I have a funny feeling that's why it's sort of ran away when you started it the first time and thought the throttle was stuck open lol. Just constructive criticism. I love what you guys do, always entertaining to watch :) cant wait to see more :)

that blow off valve isnt doing anything being mounted between the outlet of the charger and the head. BOVs are used to vent pressure between the charger and throttle body so that when the TB closes you dont over pressurize the charge pipe.
