They need a new demo block that just has good hex head bolts in it and then they grab a torque wrench and show me a regular Allen bit stripping it out, followed by the RPT exceeding the torque wrench without stripping. That’s a better demo of “preventing” rounding.

They did not use a Torx head or bit. It was a hex bit. They make a Torx bit set as well. Listen to, and watch the video a little closer next time!

I wish the set came with a 14mm. Don’t know how many differential plugs I’ve seen rounded out or are rusted and seized where a normal hex can start to slip pretty easy.

Im an apprentice at a dealership, and I work on Chrysler vehicles and I've just got my toolbox and have been looking for more tools. I know I should buy cheaper tools to start with, but I'd prefer to have quality to start with, I have only been on my Matco and Snapon truck once each and never been on our Mac truck and i get told to not buy anything from tool trucks. I'd love to have quality tools like this to start with, but I am on edge with spending all the money on the things I know I use a lot if they're off the trucks. Sorry for the paragraph.

These will be much much cheaper than the Mac versions of the RBRT because you don’t have to pay that “Mac tax” on them when you buy them. So … that’s a plus for you

The biggest issue I have with the rbrt hex sockets as well as many other hex sockets is the fact that they for some reason keep a hexagonal shape throughout the entire length of the socket, in other words when you have let's say a 3/8 drive hex socket set every socket has the same width hexagonal shaft regardless of the actual size of the tip, this is a huge issue when trying to fit into recessed holes , I love the rbrt design they truly are a game changer but sadly they CANNOT replace a more traditional hex socket set for this reason

From my understanding they have a set price no matter where you buy them. They will have an online store open to those without a tool truck soon. But you have to understand distribution when launching a new tool line. It’s the same amount of trouble to mail a pallet of tools to a warehouse who ships cases to tool dealers vs one set to one person.

It's amazing to see that you get to be the face of this launch. I do however feel that launching this through mtn is a mistake. I know several different shops that don't even have independent tool dealers. Then add that it's not available to the public. Just doesn't seem like it's going to move as many units as it would have. Sure, it will do well but it would have nice to see it open to the public

The retail will be available at a later time but obviously wholesale order shipping pallets to a warehouse then that warehouse shipping cases to dealers is much easier logistically than shipping one set of bits to one customer. You have to understand how launching products work and the man power it takes to ship one product. Same amount of time to ship a pallet of product as it does to print a label to ship one box to a single customer. It will be available soon I figure a month or so to retail.

Only thing is Grip Edge is a suspicuous company, and getting warranties from them may be difficult. It would be a better idea to buy directly from Mac where the warranty is guarenteed.

How is it a “suspicious” company? They own the patent on RBRT so if they “go out of business” which they won’t you can’t get Mac tools warrantied either since they own the patent. Not to mention there’s many more tool trucks in the world that are NOT branded Mac that can now offer Grip Edge. So you can warranty it with any dealer since Grip Edge has made the warranty process so easy for tool dealers or you can contact grip edge via website or social media for a replacement. There nothing negative about Grip Edge having their own brand IMO, it’s only better for anyone that needs a solution to a common issue with all Hex/Torx/Tripe Square etc.

Just look on KZbin Mac sold these under RBRT for years and there’s hundreds of real life usage examples. Or look up Mac RBRT on FB you will see tons of them being used. It’s nothing better than seeing real world use and these have been tried, and tested and proven.

Dan the rbrt guy made damn sure to get as far away from Dallas tool fair as possible before dropping this grip edge stuff. I would not be surprised if I see him in a booth at the matco fair this week with these. I also would not be surprised if these get taken off the market soon whether via a SBD buy out or a cease and desist.

My Mac guy told me today that this company broke their agreement with Mac to sell these and there are major lawsuits headed grip edges way.

That’s not true, you Mac wasn’t being honest with you. Grip Tool Technology has the patent and designed the tools. That’s who makes Grip Edge and made the RBRT line for Mac who rebranded it. Mac had an EXCLUSIVE with Grip Tool and they (MAC) decided to not resign the exclusive agreement with Grip Tool so since Grip Tool is a tool manufacturer they decided to release the tools under their own name instead of signing another exclusive agreement with any other tool company that rebrands them. That’s the truth. So Mac should only get mad at themselves for not resigning that agreement. Hard to “sue” the people that invented the tool, made the tool and sold it to a company who only rebranded it under an exclusive deal then didn’t resign that deal.

@@JFuller53 I’m sure at some point the entire line will be available. What I told you earlier is all true 100%. I’m sure since he’s a Mac dealer he doesn’t want to see the line leave Mac but at the end of the day he should be upset with Mac corporate not Grip Edge. Obviously I don’t work for Grip Edge so I can’t speak on what’s coming next or when but as far as I know eventually they will have it all under their own brand.

That 3/8” 4-10 needs to include a 7mm for brake calipers. Not the 1/4” set

Grip Tool owns the patent on the design. They made them for Mac Tools under an exclusive agreement, which Mac failed to resign. These are the same tools, made in the same factory with the same warranty.

They don’t make them nor does Mac…. Mac will have exclusive label rights for the next year or so them they will be sold by someone else so I’d wait and save a ton of money!

If they're as good as RBRT they're great, I've removed plenty of stripped over torqued spot welded electrical lugs with my set
