I closed the 1.5 for the first time last week, I bought the trainer 4months ago and legit did 1 close out of the box, I am now repoint that for 20+ I do believe it was an easy 1.5 though as I can't tell a massive difference between the 1 & the 1.5, however when I moved from the trainer to the 0.5 there was a massive difference in power, so yeah, I think I've closed a very weak 1.5 ! My goal is still closing the no.2 for 1 rep by the end of year
@pascalrouen
@pascalrouen Жыл бұрын
It should come faster than that in all likelihood. I started not even being able to close the Trainer. Closed the 1.5 after 7 months of training, and then closed the CoC 2, 4 months later. The jump to the 2.5 is more difficult - I'm right at the cusp of it, 3 millimeters away, and it's taken me about 10-11 months since first closing the No. 2. In total, I've been training grippers since July 2021 - so, 1 year and 9 months. And I've gone from the Trainer (rated 52 rgc) to the 2.5 (rated 122 rgc) in that time. Hoping to have my first CoC 3 close about a year from now. Just said all this to motivate you to stay with it!

@@pascalrouen what specific training did you do to close 1.5?, Care to share ?
@pascalrouen
@pascalrouen Жыл бұрын
@@ShadowBlack54 I've basically trained the same way since the start: - Warmup (light grippers ascending, just to get the blood pumping and prime my hand for some big closes) - Rest for 5 minutes - Max single attempts on goal gripper (currently the 122 CoC 2.5), trying to get it closed - Rest - Working sets on some of the next heaviest grippers, i.e. 2 sets max reps of the CoC 2, then after that 2-3 sets max reps of the CoC 1.5, holding the final closes as long as possible - Cool down (some light CoC Guide reps with each hand, and using IronMind finger extensor bands) Recently, I've started using hose clamp chokers on my grippers above my goal gripper, so on my 127 CoC 2.5 and my 132 CPW Standard Iron gripper, set to 10mm wide to work on closing strength.

@@pascalrouen My goal is no. 3 and run twice a week, one time light training with type 5X8 at 1.5 and the second time heavy training when I run negative with no. 2.5 two laps and then two laps with no. 2 as many I can then 1.5 a lap and no.1 a lap as many as I can and always hold the last rep set 5-6 seconds. After the heavy day I rest three days and after the light one two days. Is this a sensible exercise? In any case, I increase each time! I started training grippers in January this year and can handle a very heavy No. 2 now and am working on getting No. 2.5 closed and hope to do it early next year. There are three of us who practice this and what we have noticed is that there is a lot of difference between grippers in the same class. Our Cc no. 2 is very different from our 2.5. my No. 2 is not much different at all from the lightest No. 2.5 that we have. The heaviest 2.5 that the friend has is brutal and my medium and the third friend's are the lightest. Incredible fun with grippers!

It because he has long reach with his thumb to help close the gap. Don't think moat people can wrap their thumb around like that. Not to discredit what he can do, I mean even getting half way with a coc 3 is amazing in it of itself, but just thought I would point that out.

wtf.. I remember I closed 1.5 for about 8 reps but couldn't still close coc 2 for one rep.. Been training for that for about 2 months.. Is there any hope to ever achieve close of 3 or that's have to go along with genetics for it?
@patricj951
@patricj951 4 ай бұрын
Genetics has a part in it. Handstrength can differ A LOT between individuals. Not everybody have the genetics for reaching the level of strength to close #3. And there are men who completely untrained are able to close #2. These are very few, though. I think they belong to those who have the genetics for reaching heavier than #3.
