Grip vs. Non-Grip - What Should YOU Choose?

I like the grip coating but cannot stand the added tactile/tac spiral/etc. textures on the shaft. I also wish gloss shafts would make a return…always loved those old X:60 gloss shafts before Bauer transitioned to matte finish as being the default non-grip option.

There are still some ways to get your hands on a non grip gloss stick but definitely harder than it used to be, and yes I agree the non grip matte is the absolute worst option available lol. What about the texture do you not like?

Kane pretty much doesnt use non grip tho, since he uses the tape beater to add his own grip

I’ve tried grip sticks and they don’t make a huge difference, we’ve had his sticks come through the store and they have texture but no grip which is pretty cool!

Grip all the way but I don't understand players taping the top of the stick basically covering up the grip. It defeats the purpose of the grip. If anything, the lower hand might be ok for nongrip for sliding. I only tape a small butt end knob up top and that's it.

I like going a decent bit down but not too far as to interfere with my bottom hand for shooting purposes!

I like grip. My 2 favorite sticks so far are the FT5 Pro and LX Pro. Both shoot great but I lean towards the FT5 due to the grip. Can you do a video on kick points?

I find the better the grip the more enjoyable it is to use the stick especially for shooting, especially I’m planning on getting a video out on that sometime in February!

By saying non grip do mean standard glossy grip on retail sticks.

Non grip used to be a retail offering but stopped around the release of the Bauer NXG now it’s pretty much only a custom or pro stock option, all retail sticks come with grip nowadays but the amount of grip varies company to company!

See this is why context is important LOL, but have you tried using sand paper to achieve that too! I’ve heard it gets rid of the grip while applying some texture as well!
