I ordered a 5mm gripper wrench for my stripped truss rod in my Martin HD28. It needs backed off, (counter clockwise), a little less than a quarter turn. Thanks for the video!

If you ever have to extract a messed up truss rod nut, ordering the proper gripper wrench even if you live in europe and using them is the smartest way to solve the problem. THANK YOU STEWMAC. I COULD FINALLY DO IT!!!

@@kanetolley I was just wondering how you measure to get the right size myself. I have a Schecter guitar with a worn truss rod opening. I just need to tighten it slightly to get rid of "bowing" in the neck to get it more straight. I have an Ibanez JeM Jr and I adjusted that one so the neck is nice and straight and it plays perfectly.

I was told the walnut plug on my bi flex would have to be removed by a qualified luthier but in this video the 1/8 wrench fits fine. Also that the wrench will work only so many times... Some more user feedback from experience with these particular sized wrenches/ truss rods would be great. Thanks

Would you by chance know what size Gripper tool would work on a Chinese made Vintage (brand) V100 Lemon Drop guitar? This is a Les Paul copy, similar to an Epiphone Les Paul. I purchased this V100PGM used and I love the guitar but when I went to adjust the intonation and neck via the truss rod, I found out the previous owner had stripped out the hex nut... I believe the Gripper would safely extract it if I knew what size to order, but I will also need to seek out a new nut to replace the damaged one. Does StewMac carry the hex nuts? Once I've removed the damaged nut, I'm primarily concerned about getting a new one with the correct threads and the correct sized hex head wrench to install it. Thanks!

I need a right L angled gripper wrench with a short shaft, because the guitar I'm trying to adjust has a different angled cut out on the head stock (Vintage Japanese Alvarez Acoustic). Typical truss rod wrenches are L shaped, why not these Stew-Macs?
@Satchmoeddie
@Satchmoeddie 8 жыл бұрын
+aquasoniq They make a few short right angle Gripper wrenches. I made my own. Stewmac has trouble keeping things in stock, and a 6-13 week lead time is just totally unacceptable. I can have bespoke tools made in less time. They cost about the same too. This Stewmac stuff sells at such absurd prices, many of the tools & jigs can be custom made with your own specifications for just a little more money, and the quality will almost always be superior.

I have a esp ltd-256 fm electric guitar. The truss rod has always been very hard to turn, now it's stripped. The hex wrench size I was sent and using is a #3 however the treads are gone. There are no Luthiers where I am so I watch your video's and usually do a pretty good job on adjustments. I have a Squier Affinity Stratocaster that uses a #5 and it works fine. My question is for this esp ltd what size gripper wrench do I need to grab and re-thread the truss rod. I would like to buy maybe a #3, #4 and #5 sizes just in case I get another guitar with an in between size. Any advice/help sure is appreciated!
