There are songs that are as close to a time machine as we'll ever get. Songs like this take me back. The song feels like being there, but it's just far enough that you aren't actually there.

Lol, I love how the long-time Grizzly Bear fans are pulling away from this song like a cat from water. I did initially, but it's growing on me. I've been listening to these guys and their side projects for years, I'm getting this album too.

This song and 'Two Weeks' are as close as Grizzly Bear will ever get to this 'radio sound' that is so frequently mentioned here by the disheartened bunch. It's preposterous that you can blame a band for being so diverse that one of their songs inadvertently appeals to the masses.

Ed and Dan both have amazing voices. Thank you for all that you do Grizzly Bear! I've been a following you guys since Yellow House and I love everything you guys have done since - I've never really understood fans that don't like change - it's been rewarding to hear your sound change over time. This is a gorgeous song.

I'm starting to believe Mourning Sound is in response to Grizzly Bear's Two Weeks. The fast tempo and message of unsustainably living fast and in excess as a point in Mourning Sound (in a very Absurdist way) is in direct contrast and literal mourning to Two Week's cry to slow down, to relax, and to let things be simple sometimes. Ephemeral in its beauty, and perfect

I didn't know people were hating on how poppy this was when it came out...i've always felt their version of chamber pop to be full of otherworldly hooks, only accomplishable by their mastery and musicianship...that's what sets them even further apart from other bands that can tap into what they do with the more psychedelic and experimental/jazzy stretches, they can slip some straight tunes in there...anyway, who cares, why am i writing this...i just freaking love this band and every song they made--special stuff

I have a very strange friendship with this band. I have conversed with Ed back in 2007 which later inspired my Vacant Mind projects, flew out to D.C to see them at 9:30 club, met the band and took some pictures just to be kicked out right before the first song over a sip of beer. Later spent a great deal of time not able to listen to them just to find myself obsessiving over "Shields" and Daniels recorch as well at the time. Seriously curious to see what happens next. Their new stuff has been blowing me away, nothing from their past work can really compare to this new sound.

I understand most of the mixed reviews being somewhat negative, regarding how straightforward and perhaps "poppy" this is in its structure. But FFUUCCKK me, it is SSOOOOO "Grizzly Bear". This. shit. grows. on. you, it's one of those songs. The layers and production are absolutely nostalgic and beautiful. I see this as Grizzly Bear's way of saying, "Fuck yeah, we can pull off a poppy song". P.S. It's 1 in the morning and I'm playing it for the fifth time in a row, and I'll probably keep going.

+Tristan Sickles nah that's not what i said at all, my little dude, but if you need to feel victimised to feel validated in your complaint there are better ways to do that than by bashing grizzly bear for "sounding different" on a new album. way to take what i said out of context, though, and twist it to suit your need to be insulted by a stranger on the internet. there are too many people in here being hateful and disgusting about this track when there's no need to be. it's not about their opinions being different, it's about how they choose to express them in rudeass ways. kind of like how you're being a rude ass because you filled in the blanks on something i said to suit your own personal purpose rather than taking what i said at face value, which was "fuck haters, this is cool to me" -- not sure how you could possibly take that personally unless you're one of the haters acting up, thinking you're entitled to act like a douche on the great wide interwebs just because you listened to a song on youtube.
@bobbys9997 жыл бұрын
Why would I want to feel victimized? People should be allowed to express how they feel about something in any way, and if that way is saying its"trash" let them do it. Im more of a "oh well they don't like it I'll move on" kinda guy.
@thevulcanway7 жыл бұрын
+Tristan Sickles so you think everyone should be exactly like you while arguing that i should allow them their opinions, which i have considering me voicing mine in no way hinders anybody else from stating theirs? interesting, another keyboard hypocrite fuckboy picking needless and unnecessary argument in youtube comments. what a surprise. do that thing you said you're good at, that moving on thing. get out of my mentions with this pretentious BS.
