I’ve had the same gripe as you with grizzly not having a thin kerf riving knife, but it appears they recently solved it! I just placed and order, but your solution seems to be working out well too. Just a heads up for any other viewers that have a similar problem wanting to use think kerf blades

do you know when they changed the thickness of the knife? I have the same table saw in the garage in box arrived 2 moths ago

Thanks Tyler. This appears to have been added within the past month after I had mine made. Grizzly T32017 - Thin Kerf Riving Knife for G0899 - www.grizzly.com/products/grizzly-thin-kerf-riving-knife-for-g0899/t32017

This is a problem with most saws actually, its not just a Grizzly issue....the same is true for both my Skil jobsite saws, and the old Chicago Electric one I had. Most blades now that I find are actually thin kerf so...these saw manufacturers need to catch up with the times and send a regular and a thin kerf riving knives with their tools, especially for what they want for these saws.

It seems to be a common problem with throat plates not being quite flat. I generally make my own zero clearance one out of scrap 1/2” plywood. On your saw, would this be possible or is it one of those super thin throat plates.

1/2" wouldn't work here. I made one out of a piece of vinyl flooring. The vinyl is 4mm thick. The lip on the saw is about 4.7mm so it is almost a perfect fit. There are 4 adjustment screws that bring it perfectly up to the right height.

glad you like it, what was the relationship between the blade and fence? did you have to adjust the trunnion at all? also on your saw is it attached to the cabinet or the table? thanks

The trunnion is independent of the table, if that is what you are asking. Both are attached to the cabinet. To square the table/miter slots to the blade all you have to do is loosen the 4 bolts that secure the table to the cabinet and square it up. No fumbling around inside the saw at all. Mine was spot on out of the box so no adjustment was required. Likewise, the fence has it's own separate adjustment. Again, mine was close enough out of the box.
