Just thinking about the potential: Eggs and bread: French toast or egg sandwich Beans & rice: add Mexican spices Rice: Make rice pudding, sweet rice or just add various ingredients/seasonings Rice & eggs: fried rice Bread & cheese: Grilled cheese Eggs: boiled eggs, fried eggs, sunny side up etc. Take out the beef & beans from the burrito to make a special omelette. Wait, add cheese too 🧀! This could also be made into a sandwich. Bananas & bread: Bananas bead toast roll ups (yes there is such a thing 😂👍🏽🍌🍞) Keep in mind flour might stretch a bit further plus you could make pancakes (with bananas 🥞). The above is assuming that you have a few other staples to work with at home. I started thinking of various things that could be made from what was bought to keep it interesting. 🎨👍🏽🍽 bon appetit! 🔊O.C.C. 🎶GANG!🎵

Girl get the corn chips and ground Turkey you can use them for lunch then also use one serving for dinner one day with a piece of cheese and some of the ground Turkey and make a fritos pie. You can use some of the turkey and beans make chili or use the Turkey beans and rice and make soup. Use some of the turkey ,cheese and bean and chips and make a nacho with Mexican rice on the side.

I'm thinking: 1. Rice 2. Eggs 3. Frozen peas and carrots 4. Beans 5. One pound of whatever fruit is on sale. 6. Loaf of bread 7. Peanut butter 8. Lettuce

You should’ve left the chips and went for two pounds of bananas, then there’s at least some fruit every day. And one pack of the ground turkey so you could’ve bought some frozen veggies for dinner with the rice. Show people that you also can eat healthier when on a budget. You have proteine from the cheese and eggs, so you don’t have to get meat for every meal. Also think beforehand what you’re going to get, not in the store, look online for the options and prices.
@ajh.41314 жыл бұрын
You did great! I personally would’ve added some veggies into the mix for a healthier option. Frozen veggies at Aldi are 75 cents or even a bigger bag is less than $2 and it can stretch for several servings. Also, your Aldi looks WAY better than the ones around me.Seems like your store has a better selection.
@dottyjyoung4 жыл бұрын
This is a HELPFUL response vs the nasty, "Girl where your veggies?" responses. Mixing in some frozen peas w/fried rice would be helpful. I also used to mix them in w/the Aldi boxed Mac & cheese.
@dougs73674 жыл бұрын
Best way to make meat last is to make soup or stew out of it. Get a pound of ground beef and the stuff to make a pot of either vegetable soup or chili. Also make some Jiffy corn bread (50 cents a box) That will last you several days. Of course you don't have to eat meat every day or at all to survive.
@BlackBerri834 жыл бұрын
When I was hella broke I made soup ALL THE TIME. Chicken and dumplings, chicken noodle soup and chicken n rice soup...basically the same ingredients for each of the soups! Frozen veggies are less than a dollar a bag. I would eat whatever for lunch for dinner too. Breakfast was always oatmeal (not the packets) and a banana.
@Coffeeandcoffee4 жыл бұрын

That was great, though i would have gotten the ground turkey and left the burritos ($1 difference), only because the turkey is more versatile (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Then get a smaller bag of rice - a whole pot of chili and beans (over rice) would last for 3-4 meals at least. I loved this nonetheless, thank you! I will be doing this each month until Christmas! 😄
@kenyonbissett35124 жыл бұрын
She tried to get the smaller bag of rice but Aldi was sold out. If you split your shopping between Aldi and Walmart, you would get more for your money. Instead of can beans, cooking 2lbs of dry beans would last 2 weeks and cost less - freeze half for the next week. By price shopping at more then one store I got more groceries and spent less money then my friends.

I actually did this while living in a motel in Ohio. I was a learning to be a Over-the-Road truck driver and stayed at motel for free with another trainee while waiting for our truck driver trainers. We had to pay for our meals and the only option was to go to restaurants that was near the motel, which was expensive. I had seen Aldi's stores before but never shopped there, luckily there was an Aldi near the motel, so I checked it out. To my surprise the prices were very low so I came up with this meal plan to get me through a week. I had one goal that each item had to be used in more than one meal. These prices are from 2002 and here's the meal plan: Eggs .50 breakfast-scrambled, lunch-egg sandwich, dinner-used with mixed lettuce Bread .50 Breakfast-toast, lunch-sandwich, served with dinner Cotto Salami slices .79 breakfast-egg cups, lunch-sandwiches, dinner-cut into strips for mixed salad Thousand Island dressing .59 lunch for sandwich dressing, dinner-dressing for mixed salad Bag of Mixed lettuce 1.29 lunch-put on sandwich, dinner-mixed salad Bananas .50 breakfast and snacks Tuna Fish .50 dinner and lunch tuna fish casserole Potatoes chips .50 used it with tuna for tuna fish casserole-for lunch, dinner, and chips alone for snacks or served with lunch Orange juice in a carton 1.29 breakfast drink and small amount use with strawberries, bananas and yogurt for dessert Strawberries 1.00 breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and dessert with yogurt cup and pound cake Mushroom soup .35 can of peas .35 used with for tuna casserole-lunch and dinner Strawberries yogurt cup .45 breakfast and dessert with yogurt cup and pound cake Pound cake .99 snack and dessert use with yogurt cup, strawberries, and pound cake To my surprise the total was $9.25 Also I got milk for free from the motel's Continental Breakfast and use it to make the tuna fish casserole. I could have omitted O.J. too cause it was free with the Continental breakfast but I didn't think of it at the time of shopping. I kept the items in a Styrofoam cooler in our room and used the ice from the motel, also I used the motel's microwave to cook the eggs, salami cups and tuna casserole. I shop at Aldi all the time now because it has saved me a ton of money. Please don't get me started on their housewares, clothing, toys etc... Aldi is my favorite go to store for everything. I would like see you get close to a good nutritional value in each meal by working with the Food Pyramid 6 servings of grain 3 servings of vegetables 2 servings of fruit 2 servings of meat 2 servings of protein I love, love your channel you are so much fun and you're getting better each time, keep up the good work, it's so much fun to see you go through the CHALLENGE!!

I raised 2 children on a very tight budget. Ground Turkey yes but look at making something that will stretch like a one pan meal with turkey rice and even a canned veg. Or beans dried are cheap with Turkey for a chili. Eggs are totally versatile and scrambled is great lunch or breakfast.

I adore YOU! 💖 Your enthusiasm and deep concern is flowing. I see you truly want to help the underfunded. I have $30 a month and get no help ( EBT, Food banks, garden...) so I eat bad food to survive. We need to do more then survive so PLEASE consider a $15 or $20 a week budget including fruits and veggies for more balanced meals. Fiber is filling and healthy detox. Living plant foods are full of enzymes and antioxidants to UP the empty calorie foods. Most people pay more for convenience but, true poor people (who have kitchens) fill themselves with soaked and cooked beans, fresh and root vegetables, grains, pasta and the magic of spices. Meat is a luxury and not necessary or used only as a flavoring. Prepackaged food is overpriced and overprocessed. I buy $5-6 of fresh plant foods per month ( sales and imperfect or close to exp date) then rest I buy bulk rice, beans and grains that last more then a month and I have a basic pantry of helper food items which is what I think u should do for your next video. If we have basics spices, bouillon cubes, pasta, rice, tortillas, beans, flour, grits...we can make all kinds of items and supplement with sale items and fresh items for variety. When bread or dairy gets reduced for quick sale or tuna is 50 cents I buy it when bananas go to 35 c or apples 59c and so on. We even get chicken leg quarters for 49c a lb monthly so we make many meals, soup and even bone broth from the bones. I'm sorry if I sound like I'm a " know it all" I do not mean so. I have had cancer for the last 4 years and I am struggling like never before. I know how hard this is and I'd like to share because I care. BLESSINGS✨

I had a ten bucks per week food budget when I was in college. I didn't have a car and I wasn't spending any of that budget on bus fare, so I had to be able to carry it home. You have to think long-term and build up a little bit of a pantry. I tried to keep Bisquick (store brand), rice, oatmeal and pasta on hand. My proteins typically were beans, tuna, and chicken leg quarters which I cut in half. I very rarely ate beef unless there was a crazy good sale. I bought canned fruit with no added sugar and supplemented with fresh fruit when it was on sale. Same with vegetables. I ate at least one serving of fruit every day and two servings of vegetables. It can be done; look at what constitutes a serving (usually 1/2 cup). If frozen was cheaper, I bought frozen. Don't get into thinking that only fresh is healthy; that isn't true. Seriously, I was healthier then and my weight was far more stable than it is now! Don't give up and if you need to go to a food pantry, do it! Hold your head up high and go get what you need. Better times are coming and I will never forget those years.

You’re doing better each time! Processed foods are expensive. If you had flour, you could make pancakes using an eggs. A bag of dried beans often costs the same as one can of beans, but dried beans expand to much more volume than a can.

Grab a bag of mixed vegetables and you can make a fried rice with eggs, rice, and veggies. That would work for breakfast or lunch. I would have kept the ground turkey and went to dollar tree and got a bag of dried beans and a pack of tortillas( sometimes aldi tortillas are under a dollar) I would have gotten rid of the frozen burritos and added salsa. That way you could have made burritos or fried rice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Probably would have put me 50 cent over budget but its defintely more robust meals.

I don’t know if the dried black beans would cost less. If so, then beans, rice, eggs would be an option for breakfast. Whatever rice & beans from breakfast can be extended to dinner as well. Just some thoughts. Considering the $10.00 budget you did a good job.

I love these videos so much literally. It’s like when you’re deciding I’m deciding too 😂 this was definitely $10 well spent!

I would make turkey meatballs instead of burgers, and if you could have found some cheap tomato soup mix it could have doubled as a sauce for the meatballs and a side for the grilled cheeses.

Toast, eggs and rice for breakfast is an option. Nachos, melt cheese and top with beans is an option.
