We drove across America last year (on holiday from UK) and visited Magpie Fibers. They were lovely and the building itself is really interesting. Even my non knitting husband enjoyed visiting there. The young lady was friendly, chatting about the different wools and never stopped knitting herself, as she walked around, totally amazing.

Oh my gosh, my husband’s eyebrows were creeping up into his hairline during the dickie conversation……. Because of course, I am dying laughing. I ask him if he knows what a dickie is, and he says “yeah….. the rubber boots right?” Which made it even funnier…….

The back and forth teasing and banter today was INCREDIBLE. You two had me laughing so much on this episode! Thanks for all you do to support so many makers, small businesses and people going through hard times. I almost teared up with Tracie. My mom succumbed to cancer and the loss is still hard. Your honesty and realness is heartwarming.

I drove my 35 year-old son to every chemo for 5 months and stayed with him. The saddest day was one where a young man was telling the nurse he took the bus to and from (can’t imagine going home on the bus after chemo) and went through it alone. 💔 My Vietnam Veteran husband has been having chemo for 12 years. I also drive him. He’s an Agent Orange vet and our son has an Agent Orange leukemia/they found the genetic defect. So heartbreaking 💔

I had to look this up. Google said that it's a herbicide used in war. So did it alter your husband's genes, and that's how your son ended up with this type of cancer? How traumatic for you all
@suewright984
@suewright984 5 ай бұрын
@@estherlupton9378 yes. My husband has had cancer 5 times. Agent Orange was a defoliant they sprayed on trees so they’d lose their leaves and they could see to bomb. My Navy husband was signalman on the front of the boat that went up the Perfume River the day of the Tet Offensive. They were shelling the Citadel in Hue. When they couldn’t diagnose my son for 11 months, one doctor asked “was his father in Vietnam?” Because we are starting to see weird blood tests in the children and grandchildren of Vietnam Vets. Took until 2017 for the VA to acknowledge that not only Army were exposed.

I love Traci’s hair. I thought that when I signed on. I really liked Jody in the wilder glasses. What happened to them. I wear different style glasses and am 74. I get compliments all the time. Even from my Ophthalmologist’s receptionist. They are a bit Harry Potterish, but when I misplaced them and wore my wire rims, everybody missed them. You should try it,Jody. My sister and I met you at 2016 or 2017 Stitches West. A blood cancer took her life in 2022. I had started knitting again so we had something in common We lived California vs Indiana. I will always remember the joy my sister felt meeting you crazy two. She was (as my father always said) “a bit off bubble..” This was a statement relating to a carpenter level. She was a hoot. You never could predict anything she did. You were her favorites

Great episode, as usual. I know you both seem to enjoy using Spin Cycle yarns and also like to champion other small business yarn companies. You should really check out Junction Fiber Mill and their Making Tracks yarn that's a similar look to Spin Cycle. I'm not associated - just a fan of their story of how they got together and started up a small woolen mill.

What a great episode today girls 😍 I'm especially happy to see the Portuguese yarn as we're going to Lisbon in a couple of weeks. Apparently there are two great yarn shops within easy walking distance of our hotel 😅 I might have to leave all hubby's clothes behind so there's room in the suitcase for my new yarn 😂😂😂 Love Tracie's sweater, I'd love to make one but it looks kinda advanced, might be to difficult for me. Anyways love ya ❤❤

Wow--What a treat to listen to you two while I am knitting my Moby Slipover, which I love, but is intense. Tracie, I had to laugh when you said you hair is is plastered with product. I feel like that everyday!! And, Jodi, keep going with letting your hair grow out. I love the beauty tips! I may have to get that bronzer. Woolfolk is a luscious yarn!! I made a t-sweater with it that I love!! Congratulations Tracie for the collab with Joji!! What about using your Louie and Lola yarn for that Renaissance sweater? That one grabbed my eye as well. I can't wait to hear about your Ireland trip. I love packing You Tubes. We are going on an UK cruise in late August and I have been watching my share. Just a note to let you know that around the 2 hour mark Jodi said the word "gypped", which you probably don't know is a racist slur against Romani people. The Romani (aka gypsies) have long been discriminated against because of negative stereotypes of being thieves and much worse. I know this is a common expression in English, due to the fact that most people don't know the meaning behind it. I'm confident that this was not intentional, and I thought you would want to know. It can be very painful to hear for people like me that are of Romani heritage.

Possum yarn is cruel. What do you mean don't dive too deeply into it? If possum yarn is mentioned then surely the fact that the possum are killed should be brought to the fore and not swept under the carpet? Ages ago you used to espouse the fact that the pompoms you used were not real fur and therefore acceptable but it's okay to use yarn from butchered animals? Have I got that right? Fur from slaughtered animals is a no-no but yarn from slaughtered animals is A-okay?
