I am from Tassie and that haul would of been close to the $450 mark here. Sadly I know this as we buy nearly exactly the same things except I buy the large jar of mayo got sick of the waste in those squeeze ones and I buy the dark green label cheese its cheesier so the kids used less lol I grew up in Queensland so its funny to hear the different names for products devon=belgium soft drink =fizzy cordial or just cordial so on and on. For your cereal, you could get some plastic containers that hold several boxes of cereal at a time, and just refill as needed, that's what we had to do, cause we noticed the same with our boxes, plus the plastic containers seal, and keep the cereal fresher longer. Just a thought, as everything is going cheaper, but for us it's not always better. Thank you for sharing your day with us! ❤️❤️

I shop similarly to you. I check my cupboards, fridge, and freezer to see what I’m getting low on. I have certain items that I keep “in stock”, like tuna and other canned goods, cheese, onions and other veggies, etc. I meal plan from my stock, as you do. Then there will be a few items that vary, as I may want to try a new recipe, or make something I only eat once in a while. Of course, my shopping is much easier since it’s only me! And for a few years now, I’ve had my groceries delivered due to difficulties with MS. Which does make the continuing shortages more challenging, as you can’t choose an alternative in the moment. I find the grocery differences between our countries very interesting!

Cute hair! Devon looks a little like Bologna. Kiwi fruit aren't allowed at some schools--like how peanuts or peanut butter is sometimes banned due to allergies. Chicken left over? My son could eat one of those at 17!! How different! Sardines or oysters on toast would be pretty much unknown here (Midwest USA) and many would say "cat food" LOL. I've tried sardines abroad and didn't mind them, but here I would likely not buy them. Rock salt to defrost shrimp/prawns? Interesting--why? LOVE Lamingtons, but they are also unknown here (I had them abroad)

actually pilchards or sardines on toast is delicious. I always buy the ones in tomato sauce...then i tip away some of the sauce and leave enough to be able to mash the fish into. season with black pepper and vinegar to taste(i like a lot) and then eat after putting on hot buttered toast. the tinned pilchards and sardines in water or oil has a very strong taste which i dont like

Well done Jen!! It’s really hard work doing the shopping on your own! And in such quantities it makes it even harder! May l ask why you buy the small bottles of sauces, why not buy the bigger ones and then decant into the squeeze bottles that you have?? This would save you money in the long run! And May l ask why you don’t make some of the school lunch box snacks at home instead of paying huge amounts at the shop? I understand it all takes some time but you have an army of helpers who could help you!! And if you spent a weekend once a month, freeze or store what you have you would again save money and you would know what goes into each snack. Fruit bars, muesli bars and biscuits are mostly sugar. If you do your own you can control the amount that goes in! Again l get that you are busy but l feel you could save a little more money and eat snacks that are a little healthier! God bless you Jen! I wish l lived nearer to you then l would happily bake for your family!! Big hugs!

Totally stealing the term "shop to stock" term for me and my husband. We just shopped to stock our pantry with canned goods and starches like prepared foods like macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes. We base our menu plan on what meats we can eat that are on sale then add a couple of canned, fresh, or frozen vegetable and or a salad. By incrementally stocking up inflation isn't hitting us all at once and we can still plan healthy meals.
