@@Roof_Pizzayou do realize - what you described is a very small part of the entire logistics, and carbon tax on each part of the supply chain that brings the food to your table adds up....food doesn't come straight from the farm to your table. Also, the very minor decline in gas prices has nothing to do with the govt policies, it's because of global macro economic factors, yet it costs almost twice as much as in the US.

@@Roof_Pizza Farmers and food producers use diesel fuel, the carbon tax is applied to every aspect of food production, from seed production to shipping the seed to the farmer, producing fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides and shipping these to the farmer, producing livestock feed and shipping it to the farmer, farmers prepping fields in the spring - ploughing, disking, raking, fertilizing and planting the fields, then spraying to keep weeds and bugs under control, then harvesting and shipping to processing plants then shipping to distribution centers then shipping to grocery stores. ALL of these extra costs are passed down to the consumer resulting in food prices going up.

the tariffs would be on canadian products going in to the US, not coming out. if anything tariffs are going to reduce domestic prices unless companies b.s us. if it costs more to sell in the US then they will sell it here, if they have too much to sell to only canadians the prices should in fact go DOWN not up. tariffs purpose is to encourage domestic production by making foreign goods cost too much. if were selling in to that market it will harm the export of good and we will end up with oversupply here leading to lower prices. well if our economy wasnt built on total lies that is.

Our groceries haven't increased in 2024 at all. For 2 adults and our cat, we spend an average of $251 a month. That is for food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, OTC meds, and cat food/litter/treats. We also eat very well. Maybe people need to actually learn HOW to shop? ( We also eat all our meals at home)

Plenty of people are still overweight. As long as there’s still a whole aisle in the grocery stores just for chips, cookies and candy and people are still overweight there’s no problem. Beef prices would come down if people stopped buying at any cost. I buy what’s on sale and I can cook pork or chicken as easily as beef.

It is...when you consider that current prices are already way too high and there are a record high number of people going to food banks. You must be completely out of touch with reality to consider that it's not.

@@TheForbs999 no I just understand that food prices will be astronomical soon and I'm not even trying to cry about 4 or 5% increase. That's $105 instead of $100 at the till. the real problem is Ali Baba causing all these issues, from food prices to housing crisis to phone scams etc.

Maybe not if you have a good wages but us low income folks cannot afford simultaneous increases in interest rates, insurance, utilities, transportation etc.
