Never would have thought as a kid that going grocery shopping with mom or dad in the 90's was something I'd miss as an adult lol. I loved sitting in the basket part of the cart and being pushed around the store while my parents shopped. Sometimes I'd lay down on my belly on the underneath part of the cart and pretend I was flying. One particular store around me had miniature carts for kids to push around which was fun.

Mine too. We pretty much always got the "generic" or store brands when I was growing up because we were poor, not to mention my dad was a self proclaimed cheap skate lol. He would say he was bringing home "Blizzards" for us and we'd get all excited thinking he meant Dairy Queen, then he'd come home with a carton of cheap vanilla ice cream from the store and a bag of m&ms lol. He just handed us a bowl of ice cream with m&ms thrown on top and told us to stir it up.

True. Store chain options are much less around Chicagoland these. Jewel-Osco is the only, major retailer from the old days, that is still around (and not what it used to be). The competition is weak and flawed. Cub made a stupid mistake and pulled out in 2008. We shopped at Cub Foods for all big orders, from the early 90s (when a store opened by us), until 2008. Jewel was used at our convenience. I miss every aspect of shopping there years ago.
