I remember in the late 90s when cell phones came on. I was driving down the freeway and I looked over and it was a guy in a heating and plumbing truck. He had a cell phone in each ear while driving. I remember thinking if these things are supposed to make life easier it’s not working, and it didn’t. I remember growing up to a factory worker father. All the dads were home from work by 4 or 5 at the latest. They weren’t worn out or stressed out. The wife wasn’t showing her rear end into a social media app all day. The dads played catch, coached little league. Very few people were sick or obese. Food was fresh and cheap and not designed to be an addictive drug. We went to the dentist once a month, doctor check ups several times a year. We dressed up for Halloween (which was a kids holiday not a slut contest) and had a good Christmas. Then a whole bunch of bitter, lonely fools spent every waking minutes poisoning society. They sold a whole bunch of lies and false promises. They got everyone to hate and blame each other. They were hurt, and wanted to hurt and that’s how it remains today. It slowly got worse in the late 90s and really took off around 2010. Now it’s on hyper drive. Keep in mind, I’m not some Mennonite. I’m far from a prude or a Priest. I’m actually a bit of a dirt ball (lol). But even I could see we were just becoming a bunch of self serving apes.

No such thing as online shopping (other than the JCP ,Wards or Sears catalogs) you just went and bought products in real life/up close and personal - even w/the wish books you could always see those products irl too. ❤

It's noticeable how much more cash was used to pay for things back then. Debit and credit cards weren't as ubiquitous as they are now, obviously. Also, seeing the prices of the tickets and concessions really illustrates how inflation works over time. Seeing the Cineplex Odeon bumper in the theatre is nostalgic, not to mention the older technology.

Those kids grew up as Trump supporters. We must have done something wrong, their parents would have never voted for such a wacko…
@leonardpaulson17 сағат бұрын
A lot of those parents turned out to be Trump Chumps as well. It’s what happens when people passively consume media which is heavily incentivized to manipulate and misinform them. I’ve seen it happen to my own family. It’s really sad.
