I never knew that Costa Rica was more expensive. Thanks for showing where you shop and the prices. Because when we travel we do stay at place for a while and we do shop for food as we don’t eat all out every day. Good video!

I was there the week after you posted this! Such a lovely town and I checked out most of these stores. Best deal I ran across was in San Jose, a guy on the street downtown selling avocados 8/ $1.
@BucketListTravellers2 жыл бұрын
8 avocados for a dollar, what a bargain! We found a guy on the street in San Jose too and managed to get 4lb (2kg) of Rambutans for 1000 colones (around $1.50). La Fortuna was so charming, wasn't it! Arenal Volcano makes such a stunning backdrop too.

@BucketListTravellers2 жыл бұрын
@@gaillesarge9779 Jay visited a farmer's market on a Saturday in La Fortuna. It is near the Super Rosvil. In San Jose the farmers markets are on every weekend, usually Saturdays and rotating at different venues. We'll be doing another video about them next month.

Wow! I couldn’t get over how inexpensive the meats, pasta and veggies were! We love farmers markets too! The USA is experiencing very high inflation, especially on food. A NY strip steak (good quality) is between $15-$22 a pound! Great video so happy you were aloud to film inside the stores! Very helpful tips! ~Cara 😊
@BucketListTravellers2 жыл бұрын
We are quickly realising in hindsight how inexpensive the food was compared to the US! We are certainly feeling that right now! Are the farmers markets in the US cheaper than supermarkets? They typically aren't in Australia, they tend to be at a premium. Partly because the food is generally more organic.

Can you pay in US$ in supermarkets? Thank you
@BucketListTravellers Жыл бұрын
Hi There e p, we are a bit hazy on this but feel like you can only use colones. That said, you will find that most places accept cards. When you do use card, just choose to pay in the local currency rather than use the option to convert to US dollars as the rates won't be as favourable as what your bank will be able to do. We can say that tour operators and a lot of hotels will accept US dollars.

Thanks! Good to know that we travel in a similar way. It is hard to sustain long term travel (and waistlines!) by eating out all the time.
