Well, I say go for it! Now I will warn you that the accordion has quite a steep learning curve and and can take a while to master. However, with enough dedication and practice, the results will be beyond worth it. There are so many songs out there that sound amazing on an accordion. If the accordion is a bit too difficult for you, then I would recommend downgrading to a concertina instead. It's a similar instrument, but it's easier to learn (at least in my opinion).
